I posted those numbers in your thread see post#126.

Putting that aside, you still ignore the fact that the percentage of the available American workforce that's employed is WAY down and the number of jobs created isn't even keeping up with population growth.
Is it the job of the POTUS to keep this up?

The problem is that Government isnt very good at fixing problems and I think thats the point of Reagan's famous quote.

    Re: August Jobs Report: 96,000

I think the plan Obama set forth with manufacturing incentives is a good one and needs implemented immediately. Want to know why all the iPhones are made in China and not USA? It isn't wages. A iPhone wholesale without a contract is $500. It cost $180 to make one. In that equation a small percent is the Foxconn Chinese wages. If apple was building these things in USA it would barely cut into their profits to hire a bunch of workers making $15 and a bunch of engineers and middle management making a grand or more a week. Not only that, the fact that many of the phones materials come from USA would improve shipping cost. So what gives? China's government heavily subsidizes and grants huge amounts of cash to Foxconn to make these massive factories. Part of Obamas plan actually is a solution to this, and of implemented along with some compromise with Republicans on regulations the back of our iPhones could have "assembled in USA" laser etched on the back of it.
"We’re going to close the unproductive tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share. In theory, some of those loopholes were understandable, but in practice they sometimes made it possible for millionaires to pay nothing, while a bus driver was paying ten percent of his salary, and that’s crazy." -Reagan

Worth noting: unless the "problem" is that something needs to be broken. We in the government are great at breaking things

Because that is what best allows the company to provide a superior product at a lower price.

    however, it's interesting:

...A report written by three U.S. professors showed that only about “$10 or less in direct labor wages goes into an iPhone or iPad is paid to Chinese workers.”

The report points out that while the Apple products – including components – are manufactured in China, the primary benefits go to the U.S. economy because Apple continues to keep most of its product design, software development, product management, marketing and other high-wage functions in the U.S., not China.

China’s role is more of an assembler....

Kenneth Kraemer, a professor from the University of California, said that most consumers don’t understand how Apple’s global supply chain works. “They focus only on the trade deficit with China, and therefore they think China has a bigger role. What they don’t understand is that China gets all sorts of input from other countries from Japan, the U.S., Malaysia and so on. China’s contribution is really a small amount of labor,” Kraemer was quoted as saying in the paper.
So... global supply chain wherein the best and most lucrative parts are here in the US? That sounds like a plan to me .

China's government heavily subsidizes and grants huge amounts of cash to Foxconn to make these massive factories. Part of Obamas plan actually is a solution to this,
Actually that is incorrect. The administrations' policies thus far have made it more difficult and expensive to build plants here in the United States, not less. The Administrations "solution" to this, which is to try to make it more difficult and expensive to build plants overseas is no solution at all, but rather exacerbates the problem while adding increased incentive for investor flight from the US.
