Food Stamp Use Climbs To Record, Reviving Campaign Issue [W:77]

Food stamp use reached a record 46.7 million people in June, the government said, as Democrats prepare to nominate President Barack Obama for a second term with the economy as a chief issue in the campaign.

Participation was up 0.4 percent from May and 3.3 percent higher than a year earlier and has remained greater than 46 million all year as the unemployment rate stayed higher than 8 percent. New jobless numbers will be released Sept. 7.

And create even more unemployment and insure the mega-corporations are the only ones that can afford to survive. How awesome is that?!?

    You're not making any sense.

Of course a company has a minimum amount of employees. It doesn't take away from the fact that creating a minimum wage that a business can't afford, will force them out of business.

They will lower profits and sell the jet rather than go out of business.

funny thing is, they "could not afford" having a min wage at all.........100 years ago. With record profits on WS, its time to have $20 hr min wage. (say $15 for out side citys)

You're talking about large corporations. I'm talking about small corporations. Most American corporations aren't traded on Wall Street.

It's like this: the guy that has a lawn maintanance business and 5 employees can't afford to pay them $20 per hour.

Yes he can, He is charging $30 hour.

His profit will be reduced from $21 hr to $10 hr. Who knows, he might even have to work HIMSELF. LOL

Has nothing to do with the president, in fact Texas is the fastest growing for min wage jobs. Party on Cons.

Again, Congress holds the purse strings, not the president.

Unemployment would remain high even if McCain was president. The president himself doesn't create jobs.

Yet again, would have happened to McCain given the economy.

Would have to see a link on this, but let me remind you Texas is the fastest growing min wage job state. Party on Cons.

We have had a drought, I guess that's Obama's fault to?

Hope is only goine for the hopeless Cons that buy into the rhetoric all the faults in the country are because of ONE man. I'd be depressed to if I thought like a Con.

Whille Obama has been a ****ty leader, the GOP pretty much started the divide by saying they were mainly going to work to make Obama a one term president. Doesn't exaclty sound like unity there, only division from the GOP.
