Why? I understand that you and many others don't like that idea, but for some of us we realize that the average American no longer has any capability to tell Right from Wrong, to do what Should be done rather than what they Want to do, or to actually live a Proper life. Society has abdicated the responsibility to maintain any form of Law, Order, or Common Decency and it's quite obvious the religious organizations are not willing or capable of doing it either; so who else other than the Government is left to actually maintain Order in society?

I understand the point of the book quite well. What the book doesn't make concessions for is the ability for any animal that doesn't like the farm to go and move to another farm, which is exactly what one could do in the case of an Authoritarian Government takeover here in the USA. Those who didn't like it could feel free to leave the country. They wouldn't be allowed to take much with them, but they could go freely.

Nice and Sweet are two of the things that I WOULD NOT want those authorities to be, RM. However, most people with the slightest amount of common sense comprehend that it's easier to let the malcontents LEAVE than it is to be forced to imprison or execute them.

I've always gotten a good giggle out of the paranoids who are convinced that they are important enough that the government would actually care enough to invest time and resources into figuring out whether or not they had downloaded the latest copy of "Angry Birds".

As for the government overstepping, again where have you been? The US government is based on lies cheating and overstepping and you have to even question it?

The government has long been serving their own needs and those of the bankers rather then the people and today the government is so large and powerful that its impossible to fight them even with millions of dollars and the best lawyers around.

All I can hope for is that the Dollar crashes and that the US government run dry or its funding, the people revolt and raise hell and then all hell breaks lose and then when the dust settles I pray the US government is replaced with a new government according to the constitutional order that the people can replace the government.

it is impossible to tell the current government that they can be replaced as if you do you are automatically considered a home grown terrorist and you will end up in gitmo where you will realize you have no rights .. how is that for a summary of it all

thank god Obama kept his promise to close gitmo.. oh wait that was another broken campaign promise

I was just wondering. It's not a personal question. It's like asking if someone is a republican or democrat, or what country they are from or live in. People are often asked if they are a Christian, etc. Such things have a possibility of sheding light upon ones perspective. It gives people an idea of where their debate opponent is coming from. Anyway, I think I've my answer.

I think a person's ideology is relevant in political debate. People are commonly asked if they are Christians or what religion they are. People are asked what country they are from, and what political party they ascribe to. Generally, people do not hide those things and it gives others an idea of where they are coming from. In a debate about gay rights, someone might even be asked if they are gay - and that's not a personal attack unless context dictates otherwise.

It's not a personal question, and I've no idea how you misconstrue it into a personal attack.

I understand your argument but think its flawed.

You miss the entire point I was making, which is you will not be able to use my religious or political beliefs as a way to attack me or turn the argument in any direction (Side track it) because I will not allow you that opportunity by not providing those beliefs to you so lets just stay on the topic and you can guess all day long what my religious beliefs are while I voice my opinion on the debate topic.

now do you see my argument ?
