    Us Backs Off Afghan Training

The U.S. military has halted the training of Afghan government-backed militias for at least a month to give the Americans time to redo the vetting of new recruits after a string of attacks by Afghan soldiers and police on their international allies, officials said Sunday.

There have been 34 insider attacks this year — at least 12 in August alone — that have killed 45 international troops, putting intense strain on the relationship between coalition forces and the Afghans they live and work with. The shootings also have thrown doubts on one of the pillars of the U.S.-led coalition’s planned withdrawal by the end of 2014 — training Afghan forces so they can take the lead for security in the country.

does it help that general john allen assured the army, the marines, their parents and spouses and kids, our allies and all concerned, patriotic americans that this increasing incidence of our "allies" turning on us is NOT taliban directed?

their greatest gripe, however, were these sequester cuts which will impede their effectiveness, put them in danger (while also imperiling some 100,000 defense industry jobs in virginia alone)

what are our troops doing over there if the cic's fundamental strategy---eventual afghanization---is so hopeless as it appears?

how many americans must die---until after the president's election, when he will finally be freed up to employ that "flexibility" he whispered to medvedev about?

this afternoon: Carney clarifies Afghanistan drawdown timetable - POLITICO.com

what the carney barker said on af1 (it's "semantic differences" and "gotcha games") is by now utterly irrelevant, as the words wending from this white house these days are universally perceived as just what they are, meaningless mumblings focused entirely on electioneering with zero interest in cic responsibilities

no, what's significant here is not what the carney barker said or didn't say, of no value the comments of general allen about the taliban's non role in these spiking green on blue assaults

no, what IS of interest here is the transformation of the press corps accompanying the barker and his espn watching boss---at least someone with a byline is finally beginning to demonstrate at least the smallest remembrance of our men and women over there

and the "cause" for which they are sacrificing

    afghanization, anyone?

we'll have to wait til after the election to know

while brave men and women are murdered by the very people we arm and suddenly stop training, campaigning cic's require flexibility

I don't know...I find it very easy to follow the Prof's writings. Just me, I guess...

Anyway...maybe it's time for Obama to just say **** it....and bring them home now. Who knows? It just might get him re-elected.
