The Pro-Israel at any cost crowd is in rare form in this thread. They overlook the sanctions imposed on Iran, the damage being done to their economy, and focus on a few nits to pick. Nutti-yahoo whines like the physical coward/political bully he is.
'Pressure' on Israel? Not pressuring Iran? WTF??!!
We back Israel's total disregard for any UN directives, be it to abandon the West Bank settlements, allow trade to arrive at the Gaza ports, start serious talks with the Palestinians.
I do love the 'X-spurt' opinions that national leaders would commit suicide and destroy their homeland. Hitler is the favorite badguy to point to at such times, it should be pointed out he didn't jump straight into the maelstrom of destruction but gained most of Europe quickly and with little effort.
A far better bunch of fanatics to look at are the Japanese of WWII, fanatics who were planning to send young girls to fight on the beaches with sharpened bamboo balked at the idea of nuclear holocaust- if we believe the pro-bomb crowd. There is a very sobering finality to mushroom clouds, we tend to think others do see them as such when it suits us but relied on that very thought to keep the world from using them. (back in the day many hardliners called the Roosians crazy and willing to launch all out nuclear war, the Soviets played right along claiming their CD could protect much of their population)
Nutty-yahoo is a rare bird in the Israel chicken coop. A senior Israeli politician who never did time for Gawd and Israel in the military, his brother was the Hero of Entebbe and Nutty is the free loading politician.
The USofA, and every President since Truman has backed Israel in times of grave danger, from blocking votes at the UN to flying in desperately needed supplies as the bullets flew.
What irks some in the fanatic pro-Israel crowd is the USofA is one day the US will have to quit covering for Israel. This isn't 1973. The GOP is quite willing to embrace any cause if it weakens their political opponents, be it angry white dudes from the South, or petulant supporters of an European colony in The Levant.
