An interesting article on Tampa strip clubs that is not as focused on the GOP convention as the headline would indicate.

Strippers look to GOP to 'make it rain'

A strip club with a spaceship on the roof seems an odd place to expect Republicans. At first blush, one might not equate lap dances with the political party that wraps itself in buttoned-down family values. But at convention time, even upstanding men seem to seek out undressed women. When the Christian group Promise Keepers held a convention in Tampa a couple of years ago, attendees flooded the 2001 Odyssey, co-owner Jim Kleinhans recalls. They had such a good time that "they kept their promise to come back the next night."
(...)
... if past conventions are any indicator, Republicans are likely to outspend Democrats heavily at topless bars and strip clubs, says Angelina Spencer. She heads the Association of Club Executives, an organization for the nation's 4,000 "gentleman's club" owners. The group talked to members in the host cities of past conventions.

"When we compared spending," Spencer notes, "the average showed Republicans spending $150 per person at an adult club, versus Democrats, who averaged $50 a person."

an explanation for the discrepancy is offered in the article - see if you can find it.

It's not in the article, but republicans are far better tippers. They've done pieces on it before contrasting conventions and campaign stops. Dems are crappy tippers, at least the campaigners.

That said, the way the party is these days, the male hookers will do very well during the republican convention and the high class call girls will do well during the democratic convention (especially among married men).

"Hey baby. How would you like some trickle down economics?"

So what? Do you find strip clubs inherently evil or something?

This is a non issue...strippers looking to make money isnt unusual and if it was the democrat convention the headline would read...Strippers Look to Democrats to make it Rain...shrug

Four years ago, Howard Stern had some hookers on his radio show and he asked them about working both the Democratic and GOP conventions. He asked what differences there were in the two crowds. The women said that the GOP'ers were far more kinky and you never knew what they were going to ask for or the plain weirdness of their sexual fetishes. They charged more accordingly. They said the Dems were fairly pedestrian in their sexual demands and pretty much wanted just one of two things which they considered very routine and run of the mill. The women who did the dominatrix routines really raked it in during the GOP convention.

Who me? I'm one of those "evil, haters of real true Amurricans" who just loves all manner of sinful behaviour - I'm just one more guy pointing out the innate hypocrisy of so many who claim to be moral, God-fearing xians. Like Senator David Vitter - Oops! Senator who admitted using prostitutes sends Twitter message to 20-year-old woman... but claims it was an 'accident'

It is the GOP that so often claims to be more religiously oriented, isn't it? Link Between Religion and Politics is More Prevalent in GOP Primaries Mitt has said that he thinks the "separation of church and state has gone too far"

I could care less if Republican politicians visit strip clubs. I do care if the same people try and legislate their hypocritical views on sexual morality.

What party would that be, Rathi? And what legislation are you talking about? ;)

There's more than one poster here @ DP who would find it HUGE news if it were Democrats.

Now thats an understatement Rocket :)

Actually... I heard it somewhere else before, democrat scandals are about money, republican scandals are about sex...

I doubt it would raise many eyebrows, it is kind of expected of dems.

I know it goes against the narrative espoused by the Democrat Party but the GOP is a big tent party. Not every member is an evangelical. In fact, many of the new crop are far from it.

I am entirely aware of that, which is why my post stated "if the same people". I hold the individual politician accountable for his views and his actions, not the party.

Really, are all strippers hookers? Not sort of activity but someone visiting a strip club is different than someone visiting a hooker. I suppose if you think looking at porn is wrong you would put stripping on par with hooking.

I see nothing wrong with judging folks on the same behaviors they would themselves prevent in others.

Which they most certainly will do.

I think the male hookers might struggle, the gay crowd already has plans. https://www.goproud.org/homocon-2012

Well, technically, yes. They exist to tempt people to engage in lust and/or adultery.

:)

Mitt Romney has been endorsed by everyone from Mike Huckabee to Jenna Jameson. I'd call that a pretty wide cultural swathe.
