Court: Texas can cut off Planned Parenthood funds[W:104, W:111]

Yeah, that's a real good idea to tell women who get pregnant after being raped.

As if PP will stop existing or other places to go will. Write me another song but this time without the lies.

Well, the Constitution doesn't cover everything. Which is why we need a new Constitution that does.

So people can get free everything at someone else's expense? No. What we need to do is return the powers to default and arrest everyone in office and everyone still alive that was in the past and sentence them all to death on the charge of treason. I'm all down with that.

That your opinion. Obviously this federal court and a whole lot of your countrymen disagree with your opinion. Some agree. Let's put it to a vote. You probably won't like the results.

There is a reason we don't live in a Democracy.

Okay. Let's put that to a vote.

And let's see how much people will vote to continue fund the War on Drugs. And to fund government contracts to the defense industry. And to fund bailouts to banks and other financial institutions.

Nobody is advocating people get everything for free.

If the government didn't do defense contracts they wouldn't have a defense. :p

Take a look at the Commerce Clause.

Already looked but didn't see anything about cell phones. Since you obviously know the CC by heart just quote it where it says cell phones can be taxed.

No - as I said to allow large-scale mutualization of costs that promote the public good. Such as health care. Specifically birth control to those who need it. Especially when the costs to providing it is less than the costs to welfare programs to provide them with help, or the costs to society to have those children being raised poor, hungry, and uneducated as they are likely to turn to crime for a variety of factors, and therefore will siphon money from the public treasury via costs in incarceration.

The poster specifically said "defense industry" and not defense. You also conveniently ignore the other examples.

Really?

Education
College
Health care
Housing
Food
Birth Control
Abortions
Clothes

What is left? The movies?

Yes, indeed, we have a representative republic. And it's in the states' legislatures where we do put matters like this up for a vote. How did your opinion fare in Texas? Not so well.

The question isn't whether or not we have a defense.

The question is how much should be spent on it.

Except nobody is advocating that those be provided for free.

Rather, they be provided by mutualizing the cost via taxes paid to the government.

Big difference.

You could also ask him since when did it deal with taxes.

There is no difference....at all.

I forgot:

Cell phones
Internet

Keeping track of this stuff is annoying really.

Yeah, which is why the IRS is around.

The IRS is around to provide people with individual help programs? I was unaware of that.

Then c'mon back when you have more schooling or study time put in. Congress has the power to regulate (Article I, Section 8, Clause 3) and tax (power to tax derives from their power to regulate and Article I, Section 8, Clause 1) interstate commerce. For more on the constitutional underpinnings of federal excise and use taxes - read a bit.

The same people who oppose abortion have no problem with very late term abortions performed on people in other nations who did not look like us.

Hmmm ... on the surface this sounds racist. However, educate me, WHAT DOES US LOOK LIKE?

The commerce clause is a trade dispute clause and has nothing at all to do with taxes.

"Texas officials sought to cut off funding to Planned Parenthood clinics that provide family planning and health services to poor women after the state's Republican-led Legislature passed a law banning funds to organizations linked to abortion providers."
Court: Texas can cut off Planned Parenthood funds

Sounds like STATES RIGHTS to me.

This coming from a State that uses the death penalty like a Pez dispenser.

Ever been a victim of a violent crime? Might change your outlook.

It is also obvious most of these same people have no problem with invading nations that didn't attack us and in the process kill thousands of innocent women and children along with our own soldiers.

Hmmm ... First I knew that WE "kill thousands of innocent women and children. I was always under the impression that the folks that DECLARED WAR ON THE US (aka Bin Laden & company) were the one's killing innocents by the thousands. The names Qaddafi and Assad also seem to ring a bell ... but then we didn't invade there (or did we?).

I have no respect for these Anti-Choice people who are only "Pro-Life" when they can dictate who should die.

This is an attack on the poorest people who need help the most but the ones supporting this actually convince themselves they are doing "God's" work by forcing their choices between women's legs. Yes I understand it is only cutting off funding but knowing that without that funding many women will suffer it makes no difference. Do not play semantics.

I will respect the Anti-Choice crowd when they begin to display Pro-Life priorities. Until then, they are another heap of hypocrisy drowning their neighbors in their own self righteous agendas.

Anti-choice?I am for all kinds of choices.I support a woman's right to choose to use adequate birth control and her right to chose to not engage in recreational sex if her partner is not using adequate protection. I support a woman's right to choose to give the baby up for adoption once its born if she doesn't want a baby. I support a woman's right to choose to exercise her 2nd amendment rights without any infringements just like our founding fathers intended. I support a woman's right to choose to use marijuana whether or recreational use or for medical use. I support a woman's right to use school vouchers to send her kids to private school. I support all kinds of other choices.

See I play semantics with the term pro-choice just like many abortionist such as yourself like to play semantics with the term pro-life.

Just thought Maggie would be a lovely addition to a debate about her organization...
