She will learn that those in authority that blindly adhere to some arbitrary rule are fools. They destroy the spirit of a community and create busy work. My diploma is still stuck in some administrator's butthole, however, just in the pro bono work I have done I have helped more people than any diploma hanging on my wall; let alone the other things I have done with the education I worked so hard for. Very poor judgement on the part of the administration.

She could have just written the letter of apology. Easy enough.

They should have exercised more discretion. Now they can kiss her butt in Macy's window...

Mmmm, I think the student should have exercised more discretion. She was aware that profanity is a no-no. She did it anyway and changed a speech that was preapproved without permission. She even admitted that she made a "mistake." But she still refuses to write a simple letter of apology? I think she seems like a spoiled little baby.

I hope I'm not treading on thin ice or getting too personal ... but, this has all the makings of an interesting story. Care to share it?

No one has a right not to be offended. You need to get the hell over yourself. Try again.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

It's amazing how you can be so wrong yet so sure of yourself.

That's a double negative. I think you're just angry because you know your argument sucks.

    Two things:

    Saying HELL is a profanity?

HOW was the student to know that HELL was considered a profanity by the principle, not the audience they laughed, when there was no school rule against saying the word.

Way back in this thread, I posted a link to the student handbook for Prague High School - why don't you find it before you post more nonsense.
“And I have no doubt that every new example will succeed, as every past one has done, in shewing that religion & Govt will both exist in greater purity, the less they are mixed together.”
~ James Madison, letter to Edward Livingston, July 10, 1822
