She as far as I am concerned is an adult exercising adult perogitive. They did not have to have her speak. As far as I am concerend the principal is the jackass. The comment in the speach was appropriate for the message she was trying to convey. None of the speach was outragous or provocitive in any way. She said and did NOTHING inappropriate. The ONLY person being inappropriate is the principle. She should stand her ground like the woman she is. And yes she is acting like a woman, a full growed honest to god woman. Not some meek little girl. Women with a set on them are hard to find. A lot of the socalled women today are bunch weak willed knock kneed little girly bitches. Obviously her parents raised her right. She's not putting up with the BS from the principle, good for her. Kick their ass lady.

Besides, it doesn't matter anyway. The diploma is just a piece of paper, it's worthless. My high school withheld mine and it didn't hurt me any.
As I said earlier in the thread, if you consider the student in question to be an adult it just makes it that much worse. Whether she is and adult or a child is not really the issue, her behavior is that of a child, just as is the behavior of those who defend her.
Why on earth would anybody defend a petulant child, or a petulant adult, for refusing to apologize for breaking rules while representing the school at an official function. It is indefensible. Only the most asinine, immature arguments have been made to defend this persons puerile actions. Nobody with any ounce of common sense or maturity would side with this valedictorian.

I'm totally at a loss here as to why people are defending this kid. She was giving a speech (based on some stupid vampire movie no less), and she cursed on stage in front of everybody's family members, grandmothers, grandfathers, parents, small children. All she had to do was say she was sorry. End of story. Everybody's happy. I just don't get it.

Why should she say she's sorry if she isn't? Are you encouraging her to lie? Surely, that's a guaranteed trip to that place she's not allowed to mention!

Nice pun! I think she should say sorry because it would be the right thing to do.

No - I'm questioning her maturity. Age-wise: woman . . . maturity wise: a snippity teen who couldn't come up with an original, meaningful speech. Whatever happened to her 4.00 and why couldn't she put her SELF into her speech?

I admit I'm a huge fan of Twilight - but it's just entertainment and it shouldn't find its way into serious reality, EVER. It's a book - it's a movie - that's it. It in itself is not life-inspiring.
