    Re: RIP Tony Scott

He was 68 and he went out on his own terms with a quick death...not a bad way to go at all.

When I get that old, I hope I jump off a bridge (or something similar) as well.

No offense to seniors on here - but what people see in old age is TOTALLY beyond me.

    It's hard to understand.

I understand the quick death request and wish. You only live once - there is no way to prove otherwise.
Your statement about seniors is one of the silliest I've ever read on DP. I'm not one, but that was pretty offensive IMO.

It's offensive to not wish to be old and to see life as an elderly person almost totally undesireable?

    A personal belief is offensive?!?

Confusing, arrogant, ignorant, brilliant, foolish, mesmerizing, illogical....okay.

    But offensive?

    Okaaaaay.

    Have a nice day now.

You may wish to revisit this idea in 5 more decades when you are a bit closer to the age in question.

68 is not "old" just older.

This is very disrespectful and offensive to all who read this. This was not the place for your opinions regarding the within issues surrounding the elderly and suicide.

The issues that the elderly and their families face are numerous and quite painful. Compassion and common sense go a long way in this regard.

    Fair statement.

I am not officially 'young' any longer..so I am not as far away as you may think.

But, I freely admit my opinion may change with time.

But right now, it is what it is.

I know a TON of seniors. And FAR more of them have said how much they hate being old as opposed to the opposite.

Plus, I like doing things that require health and relative youth.

To not be able to do those things any longer significantly diminishes the purpose of my existence.

Well the grapevine is saying that he battled with depression for decades, mostly over being "second string" to his brother Ridley Scott. Personally both were great in their own ways and more people should have pointed this out to him.
