I know a TON of seniors. And FAR more of them have said how much they hate being old as opposed to the opposite.

Plus, I like doing things that require health and relative youth.

To not be able to do those things any longer significantly diminishes the purpose of my existence.
I suppose the word "young" relative, but you sounded like you were in your mid teens.

I'm still 10 years away from 68, myself, but that doesn't stop me from doing the things I like to do. ..... Like that punk show last week, for instance.........

RIP. It's always tragic when someone chooses to end their life.

Not if they would have been more unhappy to continue living.

In which case, it is good that they are now free from whatever unhappiness that made life so unbearable that they felt the need to end it.

If he was of sound mind...I applaud him for going out on his terms.

I am sorry he was so unhappy that he felt the need to do so...but at least he is no longer (I assume) in despair.

    A personal belief is offensive?!?

Confusing, arrogant, ignorant, brilliant, foolish, mesmerizing, illogical....okay.

    But offensive?

    Okaaaaay.

    Have a nice day now.
Who are you to judge if someone by age is 'undesirable' for humanity? That is called discrimination. And is akin to saying a certain race or gender is undesirable. Think about it.

Yes, your beliefs can be offensive to me and we can still have a conversation.

Is your opinion wrong? Nope. I'm not one to judge that. I just hope you reconsider how silly you sound.

I did not say being old was undesirable for humanity. Not only that - I was not even thinking it.

I said that I PERSONALLY find the thought of being old totally undesirable.
Me, myself, I...not anyone else or humanity.
If someone else enjoys being old - power to them.
One gains knowledge and (generally) wisdom with age - so to be able to take advantage of that would obviously be advantageous to society.
I just do not feel that the pros outweigh the cons for ME PERSONALLY.

Like it or not - I am allowed to have my misgivings about my future in regards to old age.

You want to think I sound silly? Fine.

But to be 'offended' by someone's concerns about old age is - no offense - ridiculous to me.

I could care less if someone is looking forward to or loathing the idea of getting old...it's their business.

They have there reasons for those misgiving's or lack thereof.

And I respect that they have their fears/concerns and that they have good reasons for them.

And until I know exactly what those reasons are - I am not about (hopefully) to judge whether they are 'silly' or not.

And until you know what mine are - which you at present do not - then I suggest you reserve judgement until such time as you do.

Anyway...I did not mean to take the thread off topic.

I still think you sound very silly. I took offense because I read into your position.
There are many that believe in 'killing off the old folks' to better the younger. Sadly, it is not a unique nor is it an uncommon opinion.

You are right, back on topic.

    RIP, Tony Scott.
