What exactly is the purpose of an assault gun or an uzi?

Are you hunting deer or ducks? Are you protecting your family from the rare intruder?

Or, are you running around as a civilian trying to right the wrongs of the world?

Part of the problem sharon is determining what is an "assault weapon". It's a meaningless, nebulous term. Any firearm can be used in any action that can by dictionary definition be called an "assault". Is any semi-automatic weapon an "assault weapon"? Is it any firearm with a magazine capacity over 10 rounds? Is it any firearm with a muzzle velocity of over 1000 fps? Is it only long guns, or are pistols also included? Can shotguns be considered "assault weapons"?
The morality of abortion is not a religious belief, any more than the morality of slavery, apartheid, rape, larceny, murder or arson is a religious belief. These are norms of the natural law of mankind and can be legislated even in a completely religionless society.

One never knows when one could be hiding behind the bushes ready to jump out and attack. Ask GZ.

You're either a Predator or prey, eco. There is no other option. It's rare that Predators attack other Predators. Or as a former boss of mine used to say..... When you are hanging out around wolves, it's better to look like another wolf than a lamb.

How about this.... I guarantee your taxes will NEVER go to pay to incarcerate or prosecute anyone who tries to break into my home. Does that give you more of a warm-fuzzy?

No. I'm not a vigilante. I'm simply someone who understands that most of the power in the world eminates from the barrel of a firearm and comprehends that I'd rather be ready for something to happen than to be wishing I had been, after the fact. I just sold a road bike to a gentleman through craigslist. When he and I meet up for delivery, I will be carrying a gun. He sounds like a nice enough guy, but I'm not taking any chances.

I grew up in a town of 50,000 people which was home to a large collection of La Familia; including the relatives of friends of mine. I now live and work around the second largest city in New England. I am around these people more often than I would like to be. Not because I want to be, or because I interact with them (I don't); but because my life happens in the same areas that theirs does.

I think it's rare that "sticking your nose where it doesn't belong" is interpreted as home invasion, so no, still not warm-fuzzy.

It's not just the recent spate of shootings that makers me want to move.

It's our broken political system, the rising anger in our daily discourse, our inability to fix any problem no matter how small or basic, our increasingly bland, overly sexualized and violence-loving culture, our flaccid media, the popularity of ****ty movies and music, our proudly fat and lazy lifestyle...and much much more. I'm becoming less and less hopefully about our country. I've always tried to be optimistic about things, but it's getting harder and harder.

It's not that Sweden doesn't have it's own problems, either. It's the nation my ancestors were from and frankly seems like a country I might like.

how many assault rifles have been used in crime that were legally owned since 1934? answer-maybe one

Of course the left-wingers love these tragedies as fuel to power their jihad against honest gun ownership

you cannot buy or own an assault rifle made after may 19, 1986 unless you are a title II manufacturer or a class III dealer with a police request for product samples

Assault rifles are for killing people in large numbers, Tigger. They are not for hunting or defending your home.
if that is true why are civilian police departments issued them

civilian police have no more right or power to kill people than you or I do

so what that means is that police are issued such weapons for SELF DEFENSE AGAINST CRIMINALS

which is the same legitimate purpose other civilians ought to be able to own them for
