Israel Plans Iran Strike; Citizens Say Government Serious [W:52]

We actually do no get much oil through the straits. Hardly enough to considering it vital, or a threat to us if its closed.

The problem is not how much oil WE get but what happens to the price of oil when those who do get the oil traversing the straits get theirs cut off.

Yes, this should be a European problem ... but even the EURO Rapid Deployment Force depends on US military aircraft.

Well I guess its time they start footing the bill for their own defense then. Or they can start chipping in on our costs, instead of constantly bitching about our military size and influence.

You do understand that if I owe you a lot of money, you can't afford to have me go bankrupt, right? It's you that has the ultimate problem in that sitution that is every bit as big as mine.

it depends on what the goal is. if your goal is to make money, sure.

if, however, your goal is to feed your main competitor enough rope to hang himself, that's something of a different scenario.

my opinion is that the true motivation lies somewhere in between.

Because Iran is a threat, and only fools believe it is not.

iran
a nation that has not invaded another in 200 years
that is the country you find threatening
iran, a signatory to the nuclear non-proliferation agreement

israel
in contrast has invaded other nations within the last 200 weeks
like the international bully that it is, israel initiates military action and then insists it was pre-emptive
israel refuses to participate in the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, which refusal alone - despite its substantial nuclear weapons stockpile - should disqualify it from having ANY standing whether another nation acquires nuclear capacity
only when israel agrees to dismantle its own nuclear weapons capability can it regain any credibility about another nation's pursuit of advanced weaponry
the USA should not engage in, nor support, such hypocrisy

israeli officials are pounding the war drums, the question being when - not whether - it will trespass iran's sovereign territory and dismantle its infrastructure, and you cite iran as being the threat

If Iran wasn't a threat, Israel wouldn't have to launch a pre-emptive strike out of self defense.

there is absolutely NO basis to conclude iran is a threat
it's propaganda
accepted by those without the capacity and/or willingness to think for themselves

Israel's incursions into other countrie has always been in reaction to attacks frim other nations.

Iran is a state sponser of terrorist orgs that have attacked Israel in the past. That along with her assistance ti jihadis in Iraq and Syria and her nuke program make her a threat.

Not really. He claimed they will destroy the Zionist regime in Israel, not Israel itself. You make the distinction, right?

And Zionists, specifically noted in ADDITION to "Zionist regime" and a much less specific term (used interchangably by Iran with Jews). And Americans.

It's no different than the US claiming to liberate the people of a country form the atrocities of it's corrupted government. Iraq, for example.

Wow.

Exactly the argument I expected. You have zero factual information to support your argument, which motivated more by partisan hackery than reality.

So in any conflict between the only american ally in the middle east and an autocratic theocracy that executes people for being homosexual, you come down on the side of the Mullahs. Got it. Is it the anti-semitic ravings of the Iranians that you find so attractive, or the anti-American crap, or both?

Tell those people in Syria currently being buthered by Assad with the active assistance of Iran that the Mad Mullahs are no threat.

here's why i refer to your propaganda piece as a piece of shiite propaganda
the israelis are the people in the region who cannot get along with others
the israeli government is the entity which launches unprovoked attacks, invading the borders of other sovereign nations
we have seen none of that from iran in 200 years
we cannot even say that about israel for 200 weeks

Nothing you posted is even remotely factual. No surprise.

Really? Do you have access to the highest echelons of Israeli military command? And you're revealing this stuff freely on the internet? I expect your top secret access will be closed down shortly.

Everybody knows Israel might attack, but no one (except you, apparently) knows for sure if it will actually happen.

I think it's GOOD if the US doesn't support such an action. If it's going to keep Israel from attacking Iran, then it is good. I don't want war as a pacifist, but I'm not worried if we invade Iran, we could kick their asses in no time. The problem is Iran has a good friend named CHINA, and a war with China would be devastating.

If war does break out perhaps we could pull a Cold War-style proxy war by indirectly aiding Israel.

I think there's very little chance of an actual invasion. Strikes on nuclear facilities may happen, but an invasion is VERY unlikely.

There is zero chance that a war with Iran would lead to a war with China.

:rofl Not only unlikely, but zero chance? China and Iran have a good relationship. I'm almost POSITIVE that there will be a war with China because of this.

That is ludicrous, it would be the most unexpected, unneccessary, and useless foreign policy gesture of the modern era for China to militarily intercede in this conflict. It would be counter-productive, destroy their regional interests, risk an existential threat to their rise, and offer nothing that would actually prevent the decapitation of the Iranian nuclear program. It is as close to zero chance as you can get. There is no legitimate analyst in the world who thinks China would do this.

ZERO FKG CHANCE.

The US would be absolved of all debt to China and China would thus disintegrate as a country. And the US would be back in the black (economically) the next day. All of our financial woes would be solved and China would cease to exist in the form it does today (it would fragment). So, no, dude. No way.

This might be a good time to reiterate how debt to foreign nations is a diplomatic tool and not all bad.

It'll be over before the Chicoms could get there. Even if it isn't there isn't enough friendly airspace between China and Iran, and they sure as hell aren't going to lock horns with the United States Navy that will be stopping enemy traffic from entering the gulf.

Destabilizing the ME, which supplies us with vital oil supplies, is a threat to us. Threatening to close the Strait of Hormuz is a threat to us. Proclaiming they could to destroy US bases in the region is a threat to us. They've gone quite out of their way to make sure we know they are a threat.

Iran destabliizing the ME. WTF! Your must be kidding. They are not ones that have engaged in numerous wars and proxy wars. If you want to make war at least be honest about the reasons, It's not about stability. It's about BRICS and the possiblity of a new petrodollar. Here's an idea maybe we should focus on our infrastructure and trade agreements instead of trying to maintain economic advantage through military force.

We must keep a strong military presence in the middle east. We must protect our oil.
