Israel Plans Iran Strike; Citizens Say Government Serious [W:52]

I'm sure it's too much to ask that our government let Israel fight it's own war. Sooner or later the rest of the world is going to start kicking back against all this aggression and our leaders must know this. Therefore, I have to assume that there are people who want a large scale conflict in the world. Aren't constant wars one of the signatures of a society in decline?

Bloomberg

Hopefully the US stays out of it. If Israel wants to wage war with other countries then let them, the US should have no part in it.

May be, but it's pure hypocrisy. I can have a Corvette and you CAN'T.

But I'm an Indy driver and you're a crazy blind cripple (for the purpose of this point). Not hypocrisy.

I don't know where you get this idea that everyone should be treated exactly the same regardless of who they are or what they do, but it's dumb.

Says who, are you God?

Yes. Any other basic stuff you haven't figured out (like, different people who do different things get treated differently)?

You are aware of our history in regards to Iran, right.

Modern Iran is a problem of our creation.

They voted for the wrong guy and we fixed it for 'em.
300 Spartans laid down their lives because these people are all wrong guys. Faced with the same wrong guys 2400 years later, 300 million Sparetire couch-potato Americans slouch away from all threats to their mashed-potato soft civilization.

BTW, why can America, Russia and Israel have nukes and Iran can't?

Not at all. Nikita once made the statement "We will bury you" and pounded his shoe on the podium at the UN ... but never did he say that they would destroy us. Likewise, we never made a statement like that either. However, YOUR sweethearts in Iran have pledged to DESTROY Israel. Possession of nukes would allow them to do just that.

Hypocrisy?

Not even close. I hope you see the difference.

Now hang on. Are you saying it's "fair" to give a gun (for instance) to a level-headed, rational-thinking person, but you wouldn't give one to a slobbering, sociopathic murderer? Oh woe, cruel world! It's like you're claiming were are NOT all clones or identical robots. The inequity! How could you?

So in other words you AREN'T aware of our history with Iran.

Not really. He claimed they will destroy the Zionist regime in Israel, not Israel itself. You make the distinction, right?
It's no different than the US claiming to liberate the people of a country form the atrocities of it's corrupted government. Iraq, for example.

And to do this would require "war" with Israel. So we can dispense with the notion that Iran is "only defending" itself.

Iran with ballistic missiles AND nukes is also not in our interest either. And any leader that says this...

(bold is mine)

Iran: We will help 'cut out the cancer of Israel' - Telegraph

...is hardly demonstrating a defensive mindset.

Let's see they are under sanctions, governments are threatening to bomb them, they have been cyber attacked and their scientist have been murdered in terrorist attacks. Yeah a few harsh words are identical to acts of war. How do threats to Israel threaten us? They don't! in fact it's the exact opposite look up Patreaus's testimony before congress.

You presented me with a problem. In researching your statements I think (actually I KNOW) you have a point about what 'dinner jacket' actually said. And yes the problems are ... in translation ... and in media hype. And apparently I am a victim of both. I have no use for the slime ball aka 'dinner jacket', nor do I favor Iran getting a nuke (dinner jacket WILL use it). But you are correct in what you say about the government vice the nation.

It's no different than the US claiming to liberate the people of a country form the atrocities of it's corrupted government. Iraq, for example.

However, we disagree about this. Yes Iraq (like most of the ME) has its tribal/religious sect problems ... but Saddam had to go. The oil distribution, the Kurds, the Shiite/Sunni, and myriad other problems still exist and I don't think even Allah can sort them all out.

Destabilizing the ME, which supplies us with vital oil supplies, is a threat to us. Threatening to close the Strait of Hormuz is a threat to us. Proclaiming they could to destroy US bases in the region is a threat to us. They've gone quite out of their way to make sure we know they are a threat.

Well if its just the regime they have a problem with, then they would have no problem recognizing the country.

We actually do no get much oil through the straits. Hardly enough to considering it vital, or a threat to us if its closed.

israeli officials are pounding the war drums, the question being when - not whether - it will trespass iran's sovereign territory and dismantle its infrastructure, and you cite iran as being the threat

the options would include a proxy war against the US and Israel in the region, as well as a shadow economic war. it wouldn't take much to send the US into a depression, and China holds a significant amount of our debt.

the least poor option is to continue diplomatic and economic strategies until Iran demonstrates that its nuclear program is truly malignant.

You do understand that if I owe you a lot of money, you can't afford to have me go bankrupt, right? It's you that has the ultimate problem in that sitution that is every bit as big as mine.

Because Iran is a threat, and only fools believe it is not.
