Paul Ryan sold shares on same day as private briefing of banking crisis

No, it wasn't illegal and it seems that all our rulers have been doing this. They not only have 9insider information, they adapt legislation to benefit their investments.

They are ALL doing this. At the same time they upgrade their benefits and stuff their pockets with bribes, favors and "campaign donations". They've been doing this since like forever. They rob us blind and laugh at us.

You sheep better get used to it. The reason people become politicians is to get rich. Not one of them gives a rat's ass about us. Some of them take up "causes" but it's all just Hollywood for ugly people.

Now, it wasn't illegal at the time and people on both sides of the aisle were participants in activities such as these, but it just doesn't seem right does it?

unethical, trading on insider information, but legal (for congresscritters)

what he did is still legal. the funds were bought and sold outside of his control.
 
The biggest offender thats been outed is Nancy Pelosi. So scandalous that Congress lost their sweet deals and have to find another raping method.

This is what happens when the government makes laws for themselves. It is disgusting and everyone in Congress does it and are laughing at the American people while doing it. Our politicians act in their own personal interests first, the interests of their large donors second, and the American people they are there to serve a far distant 3rd. Romney, Obama, Mcain, Pelosi, Ryan, and everyone else is the same. Stop buying into the BS.

Like I said, you didn't have to sit in private congress meetings to know that it was a bad time to be in the stock market.

I wasn't aware you knew me so well, friend! What you have to laugh at is when in my OP I clearly posted that I'm disgusted by unethical behavior by either side of government. In fact, if you did even the slightest bit of reading of most anything I've ever posted here, you would see that I try to look at everything from a viewpoint that is unbiased as it can be.

Now, I'll give you the fact that I read the article and maybe I also was guilty of not giving due diligence. The only difference is, when I got part of the story wrong I wasn't a prick about it. Have a nice day.

I see your point but all my retirement funds in and out of my 403b are self directed. I will step back to say I found the article interesting and wanted others' opinions. I dislike immoral activity on either side of the aisle. My apologies to those I may have mislead into thinking I was presenting anything as fact instead of as a discussion point.

I will also admit, even if its not directly related, that I myself would find it hard not to take advantage of a situation where I would be told specifically how NOT to lose a ton of money. My issue lies more with regulation and law that allows this type of activity to be possible in the first place.

I don't know what to make of the ultra-partisan. Do you really not see how its all being run? They're not even subtle about it. They choose one line of bull**** or the other, espouse it loudly and for this drama, they are richly rewarded and so are their friends. It's better than being a movie star, it's prime time acting. There's not one iota of difference between one politician, one party (aptly named) or the other. You get to pick some personal issue you have, maybe abortion, welfare or something as remote as gun ownership and then you'll choose your crooked avatar to go to Washington, attend cocktail parties in your Armani suit, fly around the world "consulting with allies", be set for life by merely being elected once! And nothing much will change, especially not the more passionate issues.

Good luck with your choices. Just remember, wether you're a proud liberal or a proud conservative, your passion is pointless, your Leaders are your Owners and they have Owners it would seem.

I was unaware you were being nice. I was actually, on the contrary, admitting that I didn't do enough research on the subject. I then used this to segue into the topic of insider trading in general. I then gave a personal anecdote related to that topic. Your personal attacks are completely unnecessary, unappreciated, and unproductive.

If I had attacked you “personally" I assure you it would have been messy. If you realized the error in your thinking, I’m cool with that and have made adjustments myself. I consider it a badge of honor that I’m willing to learn from others and change my position.

I can see you're very sensitive but my post, which sent you into a tailspin, was for "American". American's post asked a simple question. He wanted to know if there was a list of everyone who had done the same as the thread article was calling Paul Ryan out on.

Now how this simple post sent you over the edge and into the "name calling/besmirching" mode I don't know. Maybe you should do some "due diligence" on reading posts before you call folks "pricks". "Have a nice day".
