Hard to judge best or worst because that is a matter of opinion. For the sake of debate I think that the only way to determine "best" is by sales. Starbucks is the best simply because that is the coffee more people drink than any other.

No, quite honestly the coffee at CLEO that year is the only coffee in my long history of coffee drinking that I almost instinctively spit out on the first sip. I couldn't finish it. I got a couple of sips in on this horribly brewed, burned crap they tried to pass off as coffee and that was it, I got in line for Starbucks. I can certainly see people saying Starbucks sucks (I myself am not much a fan), particularly compared to local coffee shops and such; but it's not quite the Ultraviolet of coffee.

Starbucks drip coffee is just fine...but thats not where they make their money. They make their money on their fru fru drinks that they charge an arm and a leg for. A venti drip isnt much more than the local convenience store. My business partner goes for the venti white mocha with an extra shot and it costs like 6 bucks...for...a cup of syrup with 3 shots of espresso. Glad she likes it...glad she pays for it out of her pocket.

I hope Starbucks makes a killing for this counterrevolutionary protest. And hey...worst case scenario...Starbucks is USUALLY pretty busy, so it at least will LOOK like lots of people are going there to support 'the cause'.

I have had worse than Starbucks. At a previous job, I started putting sugar in the coffee I got there, and I usually take it black (like my men -- rimshot). There were a lot of Somalians and Ethiopians working there, so I wonder if that had something to do with it.

I know lots of people of a certain political and social persuasion who exclusively go to Starbucks for the image, not the coffee. The faux-urban hipster feel is attractive to these certain individuals.
I've met a few hipsters with conservative politics...I've seen way too many hipsters.

I mean sure, there's worse coffee than Starbucks, if you count freeze dried crystals or stuff like that. I mean in terms of being a self-proclaimed "coffee shop" with actual coffee making equipment behind the bar, it's the worst. I guess I'm not counting gas station or airport coffee because that's just something they give you to kill time with. No one goes there saying, "Boy I need a cup of real joe...let's go to Diamond Shamrock."

The only reason people drink Starbucks is because they put endless amounts of sugar, cream, ice, flavored syrups and toppings on it. I only drink drip coffee with a little 1/2 'n' 1/2 in it. I've been to many a coffee shop. Starbucks is the worst "coffee shop" coffee I've had. Burnt, overly bitter, not fresh. SB's clearly focuses on making drinks for the teenage hipster girl crowd; whipped cream and sugary mocha-flavored syrup and soymilk and all the jazz with about the equivalent of a half a cup of actual coffee.

Actually, a big part of the reason is that Starbucks over-roast the coffee beans. Hence people around where I live call the "Charbucks", because the coffee tastes charred. Over roasting the beans is usually done on purpose to mask the cheapness and lower quality of the beans. Also, many people think it must be stronger if the coffee tastes "dark."

And yes they do serve burnt coffee that's been left on a heating element for over 30 minutes. You know, the coffee that's in the urn on the 'warming' pad. All you taste is the harsh bitterness left because all the rich coffee oils have been evaporated away (which is what gives fresh coffee it's richer flavor).

Here, Dunkin Donuts is (for some reasoned) considered a coffee shop and it's terrible. When I go to Starbucks, I tend to get a latte, I like them. I don't use any of the flavors, just coffee and milk (for normal coffee I won't put milk in it).

Hmmm. I guess we have different tastes, but I stand by my assertion that Starbucks has THE worst coffee of any self-proclaimed "coffee shop" chain.

You like Dazbog? I just found out it's Denver-based; they're my go to coffee chain. There's almost as many of them as They Who Shall Not Be Named. Love that KGBlend.
