Jobless rate rises to 8.3 percent, hiring picks up but still falling short

So what you're saying is that you would prefer an economy where we are losing better than half a million jobs every month, GDP growth clocks in at NEGATIVE 6.7%, the stock markets are crashing, the financial sector is crumbling, home values are plummeting, foreclosures are skyrocketing, and it's virtually impossible to get a loan....? I doubt it.

We still have an economy losing over a half million jobs a month and that is after spending over a trillion dollars and this is over three years later. GDP growth is dropping every year since 2010 so that is hardly a growing economy. The financial sector was bailed out by Bush not Obama yet you want to give him credit for saving the economy then blame Bush for the deficit. The results of Obama speak for themselves even though you want to ignore the Obama record and divert from it.

It's amazing how quickly you can cure a recession that you created intentionally, isn't it?

What is amazing is that you give obama a pass for his disastrous economic results.

See, you're speaking about results again. What did I tell you earlier? Need me to go back and show you?

That's a blatant lie. Last month the economy picked up 163,000 jobs, which I believe is slightly below average for the last 35 months.

"A lie"?

How do you know he's lying?

Isn't that a rather harsh criticism?

I mean, he could be talking about net loss of living-wage jobs, what with all the out-sourcing of American jobs to wage-slaves from other countries that's still raging out of control.

Or the jobs of people 55 and older, what with all the age discrimination in hiring these days.

Or, heck, what if he's wrong by means of misinformation, or didn't grasp a concept, or who knows what .. why not just say "that's not true" and let it go?

I don't know what's going on around here lately .. it's as if the economy, our lack of recovery from the lingering effects of the recession, the hope in the election that "our favorite" will win and fix things or the fear that the greater evil of the two will win and make life economically worse .. I don't know .. .. but something has this place in a tense state waiting to explode with an epithet or two every few minutes.

Sure wish we could fix it, whatever it is in the economy that's got everyone all wound up tighter than the girdle of an African Mormon minister's wife at an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast.

It's not really something subject to shades of meaning. He claims that the economy is still losing 500,000 jobs a month when in fact the official numbers from bls (his Bible) demonstrate that the economy has added jobs almost every month since Obtober of 2009 -- more than 4 million jobs in under three years, versus, if he was telling the truth, minus 18 million jobs.

Last month we had over 13 million unemployed people including 850k discouraged workers. That is hardly a successful record. Bet you really were excited when Bush had 48 straight months of Job creation but you want to focus on the negatives all in an attempt to prop up the empty suit in the WH.

Perhaps Conservative he is talking about the weekly jobless claims which run about 350K weekly. Now those are gross job loses. The other guy seems to be trying to bait others into getting fights versus debates. It seems that the Obama team strategy is to make politics so ugly this year that people will not to participate. Leaving his key voting blocks because they are Obama lemmings who don't even follow politics, many probably could not tell you the name of the vice president,

His statement was false. CHECK

He deliberately presented it as true CHECK

I think we are good here.
You chopped the definition.

The definition of a 'lie' is: 'A false statement deliberately presented as being true'

It's irrelavent (in regards to whether he lied or not) whether what he typed was true or not...to determine if he lied or not you have to know that he intended to post false information.

Where is your unbiased, factual proof that his intent was to deceive? That he knew the information was false - but presented it anyway (assuming it is false)?

Did he say he intended to deceive?

Can you read his mind?

Because if the answer to both is 'no', then you do not know his intent and you cannot know he lied.

You can guess, assume, believe...but you cannot know.

Why do I have this feeling, that if this were a right wing administration, the right wing on this debate, and even the libertarians, wouldn't be scrambling to show the worse aspects of the economy? And then in that case, the left wing would be doing what the right wing is doing now with Obama, painting the worse picture imaginable.

The economy is better then it was at the start of the crash right? Would the libertarians and conservatives agree with that or not? This gets into the taxes and regulation argument if I'm not mistaken, I'm sure thats already been mentioned and debated here a thousand times over, so I'll just say for the businesses that have large profits, I fail to see how some added taxes and or some new regulations are going to kill them? Either they lose a little profit, or they refuse to hire workers they might need, and cut workers pay and or fire some altogether. If they go that route, then they look like a bunch of assholes. Literally, thats the best way I can say it, sorry for the language. (I'm not looking back through endless pages of debate to see for myself what they'd say, so I'll just wait for one of ya to answer me here)
Im guessing you dont own a business or you wouldnt 'fail to see' how and why businesses are concerned. Its EASY to talk **** about what other people should do to provide jobs when it isnt your ass, skin, and livelihood on the line. I am always looking for the next change from the state and what the new laws are going to do.

You arent supposed to count the newly unemployed, the underemployed, those that quit trying to find work, and those that run out of benefits and are no longer counted...only the 'new jobs'!

Oh...and I should ask I suppose...is that the House or the Senate that is responsible for those 'new jobs'?

I know, we only need to count the jobs that Obama says he created or SAVED and no confirmation is necessary. Liberals want so badly to believe what they are being told that they will buy anything as long as it comes from Obama or his Administration. We have terrible economic news but the best they can say is was better than what he inherited yet it is far worse than when the recession started as we have lost 4 million jobs as of TODAY!! You can sure see how naive and gullible liberals are but more importantly how poorly they are informed.

Hell...give me 5 billion...I'll 'create' at least a few hundred thousand jobs for ya! Mind you...the jobs I create are going to have be maintained by taxes because they will be government and not private sector jobs...but still...

And those jobs I 'save'...well...so what if your state is STILL in the same place this year as you were last year because you still have a debt sinkhole. At least your grandkids will be stuck paying for it.

And you're still in business, and if people are buying whatever you're selling, and more than you can presently produce, you'll hire new people regardless. This is why buisiness has continued regardless of regulations, taxes, or anything else.

No....I wont. I wont expand at this point because I have no idea how that will impact my business and Im not going to put everyone elses employment and my investment at risk. Other business owners have expressed the same uncertainty. You want to then by all means...dig in there. Its always a little bit different when you have skin in the game.

You won't mind if I don't beleive you. History shows us business always does, regardles of what government does or doesn't do.

Spoken by someone who obviously has never hired anyone or ever had to make a payroll. you have no concept of what it costs to find, hire, train, pay, and then maybe fire before starting the same process over and over again. People like you are so naive when it comes to actual business, payroll, benefits, and making a profit vs printing money to pay for Federal employees.

You are such a blind partisan you wouldnt believe a door got slammed on your hand even after it was in a cast if it somehow didnt fit your paradigm.

Every once in a great while I am foolish enough to respond to him. Within a single post, I remember why.

That must explain it all there Boo. The tooth fairy, not the gov't, keeps unemployement high. With an 8.3% ADMITTED unemployment rate, those new workers, willing to work for lower wages, must be in abundance. LOL

And yet you really didn't contradict me. I know, you think you did. You need to show people spending. Not posied, not showing lay offs, but people buying. If there is enough demand, history shows buisness will respond.

He once told me that the government of North Korea had no impact on its' economy.

 it's a product of the groupthink bubble he lives in
