I actually think he was for the simple fact that he was pro-SSM before it was inconvenient.

It seems highly implausible that anyone would go out of their way to support a business just because a couple of mayors said some mean things about them and made a silly threat that they'd never be able to actually enforce (one of whom wasn't even in a city where Chick-Fil-A was considering locating).

Now that you've admitting he's lied about this, I have no problem at all.

You may think it's implausible, but that's my person reason for going.

Um, what? This entire time you've been laughing at the idea that I think he's lying and now "you have no problem at all." LOL, talk about filip flopping. Why did you think it was funny that I thought his views were for show? Why won't you answer that question?

Gasp, a politician behaving like a politician. Stop the presses.

    He was lying here:
    Of course he was.

    And he was lying here:

No, I guess he was just pretending. *Sigh*
Apparently you just can't wrap your head around the fact that a politician was behaving like a politician, and his supporters knew it.
Anyway, that's the reason there isn't a double standard between Obama and Dan Cathy. You have your answer. If you want to start thread whining about Obama lying, go for it, but it's off-topic here.

What does Steve Jobs' personal life have to do with anything, and how is that remotely comparable to Dan Cathy spending millions of dollars to influence PUBLIC POLICY by supporting a pro-discrimination agenda? If Steve Jobs had spent lots of money on politicians and organizations that advocated for date rapists and deadbeat dads, you might have a point. But he didn't, to my knowledge.

I don't think it's okay for government officials to punish a business because of a CEO's personal views either.

Of course, I don't agree with CFA's policy of giving millions of dollars to hate groups like the Family Research Counsel which in turn argues that gays are a bunch of child molesters. But no sense going down that road again.

Whether it has a negative effect depends on how long people like me, of which I suspect there are many, associate Chik Fil A with all the anti-SSM people who've adopted the restaurant as their mascot. Right now, I would feel disgusted even going in there because this is in the forefront of my mind. I'm not sure how long that will last, but the anti-SSM people who came out in "appreciation" aren't doing Chik Fil A any long term favors. Their efforts will either have a neutral or negative effect.
