Just our solid and dependable support would be nice. There is not much doubt that we (as a nation) have been becoming increasing anti-semitic over the years, due mostly to political correctness and a fear of being seen as impartial. Frankly, we are their only actual ally who is willing to back it up, but I'm seeing less political will to do so, with a growing apathy among the general population.

We give them billions of dollars in aid every year, back them up at the u.n. with our veto. Our politicians publicy state they are an ally. what more can be given to a foreign nation half way around the world? what do they help put on American's dinner table? please be specific.

what, how is america becoming antisemitic, and why should we give unconditional support to any country?

I think she mean's we should shed blood and give our souls to them. Since we given them everything else including access and first dib's on our latest military equipment.

They are our only real ally in an incredibly volatile and strategic part of the world. They took out nuclear reactors in Iraq, which I think most would agree militated to our advantage. They also took out Syria's nascent nuclear facility. And of course they have been working for quite some time to slow Iran's progress towards a nuclear bomb.

They do nothing for us, their parasitic.

Considering the antisemitic cr@p that is being spewed on this forum by creatures such as 24107 that would have been almost unheard of when I was a kid, it seems pretty obvious that antisemitism is on the increase.

It's just that those of you in your teens and early twenties hardly know anything else and so you accept it more easily.

they use our billions in military aid to buy American weaponry that might not have been purchased otherwise.

military aid to Israel is kind of an American jobs-program.

You could at least learn to write at something above a second grade level.

The took out Iraq's nuclear program. They took out Syria's nuclear program. They have delayed Iran's acquisition of a nuclear program.

These are things that benefit us. Why are you ignoring them?

the civil war in Syria makes Israel's destroying their nuke sites, look like a VERY good move, in retrospect.

You haven't a clue what I mean. They are the only freaking actual democracy in the ME. They don't treat their citizens like subjects and animals, and they don't even have the death penalty in their country. They are surrounded by nations and peoples who want nothing less than their total destruction, when they are the only coherent sober-minded society in the entire region. It's all fine and good to supply them, but when **** comes to shove, they will be screwed trying to defend themselves in the current geopolitical climate.

Why we need Israel:

(excerpt)

Still, the value of the Israeli military to American interests goes deeper. Its joint ventures with the US military have been essential in developing such high-tech weaponry as missiles, drones and Tactical High Energy Laser systems. Israel’s defense industry excels in the kind of innovation, creativity and efficient just-in-time delivery that’s too often missing from our own megadefense contractors and keeps both them and us on the leading edge of military technologies.
Just as our Patriot batteries protected Israel during the first Gulf War, so may Israel’s new tested “Iron Dome” anti-missile system be the shield that protects American cities from rogue-nation and terrorist missile threats in the future.
By the way, that innovation and creativity go far beyond the defense industry. Israel’s growth rate consistently outperforms bigger developed nations; its per-capita capital investment is 2.5 times bigger than America’s -- and 80 times China’s.
Israel is now the Start-Up Nation, a major crucible of innovative companies and breakthrough industries, from microchip design to medical technology to software and network algorithms. Israeli companies supply Apple, Microsoft, Intel, Cisco and others with key technology.
So who needs Israel? We do. Our military and defense industries and even our biggest high-tech companies all depend on a strong and independent Israel.
The forces of darkness are gathering, both in the United Nations and the Middle East. If we abandon Israel now, it would be worse than a crime. To paraphrase the French diplomat Talleyrand, it’d be our worst national blunder since Vietnam.

lol, or the internet could be the outlet for weirdos of all stripes...

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The CIA station chief opened the locked box containing the sensitive equipment he used from his home in Tel Aviv, Israel, to communicate with CIA headquarters in Virginia, only to find that someone had tampered with it. He sent word to his superiors about the break-in.

The incident, described by three former senior U.S. intelligence officials, might have been dismissed as just another cloak-and-dagger incident in the world of international espionage, except that the same thing had happened to the previous station chief in Israel.
LEAK: US sees Israel as spy threat

This "item" should not have been placed in "breaking news" section of DP, but, in the "breaking wind" sub-forum. This "news" story is a hackneyed rehashing of an old exercise by the friendliest of nations...

Here is one explanation from 2004....

"Many allies enjoy a formal "intelligence liaison." They share, trade, or consolidate assets and findings. During the Cold War, the nations of NATO had such arrangements. U.S.-Israeli relations were solidified after the 1973 Yom Kippur War, when Israel supplied the CIA with a massive cache of Soviet military hardware: tanks, fighting vehicles, artillery pieces, and so forth.

Yet there are times when allies don't want to share. Consider the following situation: Countries A and B are allies. Countries B and C are friends or, at least, trading partners. Countries A and C are enemies. Country A might want to spy on its ally B in order to learn things about its enemy C.

The world is teeming with such relations."

Why allies spy on allies. - Slate Magazine

wasn't information acquired by Pollard eventually turned over to the soviets? Sorry, there is hardly anything friendly about setting up internal spyrings within another party's govt

Isn't spying on other nations, even friendly ones, Foreign Policy 101? I've always assumed we had spies in most countries of importance and vice versa.

Making enemies out of a billion muslims doesn't benefit the US.

What a twisted way of looking at things. So in your world foreign aid = jobs.

Hey why not, semites attacked the US on 9-11.

*sniggers*

Israel has been designated a major non-NATO ally as per the Nunn amendment relating to Title 10 of US code. This has not been revoked since it was issued in 1989. Good enough?

No treaty, no pact, no alliance, no obligation.

Major non-NATO Ally

What was all that, "no entangling alliances" B.S. we all keep hearing about.

it does, when you care about the money we give to Israel, and not the money we give to Afghanistan & Iraq.

I thought this thread was about Israel.

what is your solution to the "Israeli problem"?

Cut off all foreign aid. We shouldn't be giving foreign aid to any country and countries that spy on us definitely shouldn't get anything from us.

Problems with US supporting Israel:
1.)Its a huge reason why a lot of majority arab countries view us in a negative way
2.)Its a cheap scapegoat for Islamic terrorist to "hate us"
3.)Israel is a country that has been a huge violator of international law and human rights
4.)They take a huge chunk of US taxpayer dollars.

The first two are not valid reasons for why we should or shouldn't support an ally or allegded ally.
