What separates the M4 from military use is the grade of the round. 5.56 is ammo for military. It is illegal to use in the civilian world. Ranges are only authorized to sell and allow .223 It's a lower grade round with far less punch. Don't know which SWAT uses.
I hate to tell you this but that is not what separates the civilian version of the M4 and the military one. The only difference is the fact that a M4 or M16 shoots burst or full auto and the civilian is semi auto. Although civilians can buy full auto weapons like the M4 if they have the right paperwork. You can without a doubt buy M855 which is what the US uses. You can even buy the 118lr 7.62 sniper ammo that we use. Not that it is that big of a deal because there is a lot more effective ammo out there that what the military uses.

Gun attack at Batman film premiere in Denver - Thread 2 [W:1/52]Let's steer this thread back on topic and take the discussions of the M4, M16, ammo and other gun related topics elsewhere shall we?
Welfare (Food Stamps, WIC, etc...) are not entitlements. They are taxpayer funded handouts and shouldn't be called entitlements at all. Social Security and Veteran's benefits are 'Entitlements' because the people receiving them are entitled to them. They were earned and paid for by the recipients.

[QUOTE=MSgt;1060722852]His lack of training makes holding a rifle (even a short M4) cumbersome. His swiveling about looking for targets to spray took time. A pistol is far easier to maneuver in tight spots and can fix on targets without turning your waist. A flick of the wrist is all that is needed to completely change the trajectory path to a different part of the room. In close quarters or room clearing, a pistol is always preferable with the rifle slung on your back (unless you are the back element coming in to reinforce.)

I really dont want it to seem like I am being nit picky here but I hate seeing bad info put out here. NO ONE who knows what they are doing would prefer to clear a room with a pistol. I have had more than my fare share of CQB training both in SOF as well as from civilian run courses that were taught by former tier one instructors and no one ever even hints that it is a good idea to use a pistol as anything other than a secondary weapon. Rifles are just so much more effective as well as much much easier to operate effectively. For real military use a pistol will never be anything other than a secondary weapon for a reason. Also if he does not have any training a pistol will be much harder to use than a rifle will be. Put a optic like a red dot sight on a M4 and a 10 year old could shoot it accurately at the distance you often see inside a house.

I think it was finally recieved Monday after the fact, what a shame that didn't get there sooner. Under law the psychiatrist would have had to report that to the police, that could have stopped a lot of pain and suffering.

So it was a case of the "revenge of the nerds?"

Video games are absolutely a contributer of sorts to aggression. The 80s brought us such hits as Pacman and Asteroids. School violence and senseless shooting sprees didn't start until video games started bringing gore and violence. Also, the rise of so called Gangsta Rap. Also, it was the 80s when Hollywood started turning out violent gore as a part f the mainstream entertainment. All of this contributes to how our kids behave. And don't you dare spank one of them under Clinton's America. Today, kids shoot up school and theaters. We have metal detectors in schools and guards on airplanes. All of this began from the 80s on. A person would have to be a fool to pretend that all our mainstream glory has nothing to do with it.
Yeah, the 80's did seem to be a turning point, didn't it? The term the "me generation" was very aprapo.
