Police: Maine man took loaded gun to Batman movie

Is this our first "copy cat" following the shooting in Aurora, CO?

Police: Maine man took loaded gun to Batman movie

A trooper stopped Timothy Courtois, 49, for doing 112 mph on the Maine Turnpike in York Sunday morning, police said. Motorists had reported seeing a speeding Mustang with its flashers on.

Upon pulling him over, police found an assault rifle, four handguns and several boxes of ammunition, they said. Also found inside his car were recent news clippings of the mass shooting at the Colorado movie theater, police said.

"We don't know what his true intentions were," said Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety. "Based on the arsenal that was confiscated, we brought in our counterparts from the FBI and ATF to assist with the investigation."

He apparently admitted seeing Batman earlier and attended with a loaded gun in his backpack. He also admitted he was on his way to shoot a former employer.

Okay, we know the guy's nuts. Posters here have said, in effect, "We need to identify these people and get them off the streets." It will be interesting (and probably frustrating) to see what our court system does with this guy.

typically with any crime theres a copycat,or 5.

happened with columbine, happened with the ok bombing, happened with the fort hood shooting(i was on fort hood when it happened).

thing is though almost always the copycats fail because people pay attention the second time around.like not too ong ago someone tried to bomb fort hood and got busted.he got caught because he tried to buy smokeless powder then asked the gun salesman how to make a bomb with it,the salesman sold him the powder cassually and then immediatly reported it.they caught him right after and found him with weapons and various books of unnamed nature.

before columbine school shootings were pretty much unheard of,afterwards they spread like wildfires.

all these copycats dont care about the law and usually take advantage of a national tragedy to gain a name for themselves, and kill themselves in the process.
