Aurora shooting...Holmes had planned to escape.

Dude can't be all that smart, if he thought he was going to get away with it. Even if the apt fire plan worked...what then? Live in the woods for the rest of his life? The gun and bullet purchases were easily traced to him. Cops woulda known it was him before the sun had come up, even suspected such sooner once the cause of the fire was determined. Where would he have gone? Drove to FL, then try to get a boat to Cuba, lol? Seems to me, if he REALY desired to not get caught, then he's a pretty short sighted idiot.

Maybe he thought he'd do the same thing again, and be a villain like in the TV movies.

I didn't see the Dark Knight... but did the Joker target mass killings of innocent people? And yes, this guy is nuts and probably delusional. You never see the Joker in court and being charged, right? Maybe that's why he looked so vulnerable and meek in the courtroom.

No, you don't see Joker in court.

No mass killings on his behalf similar to the theater, IE with a gun. He tried to convince a boat of criminals to blow up a boat of civilians and vise versa....tortured an individual to prove his point about some demands....carried out a few murders of political figures (judge and police commissioner, and assistant DA)...killed some mobsters....blue up some cops.....but not really "grab a gun and shoot a bunch of random people"

The best laid plans of mice and sick, self-absorbed assh*les...

Can't disagree. But the message is that this appears to have had a longer term plan. We will have to wait to find out (possibly) what that extended plan was.

Evidence suggests that the perp wasn't expecting to get caught...

It kind of looks like he was planning on dying. It's kind of strange to see him alive. He is so young and he looks like he is in bad shape. I kind of hope he doesn't get death. He really needs a mental evaluation before a decision like that is made. I can't imagine how his parents feel right now. I am not making excuses for his actions. He should have tried to get himself help long ago.

The picture you posted is the Joker, in a wig, for all of a few moments in the movie. Trying to look "like the joker" and mimicing a whig he wears for roughly a minute would inherently throw into question the sincerity of the notion of trying to "be the joker".

Also, the Joker has almost in all cases traditionally been depicted as having Green Hair (or at best, black with green highlights). In Comics:

Video games:

Cartoons:

Movies:

And TV:

Green Hair is kind of iconic to the character's look. If someone is trying to "Be the Joker" it'd be like trying to "Be Superman" and wearing a Orange Suit instead of Blue.

I think it's played up because it's based off generally speculative things, often seemingly speculated by people completely ignorant of the source material they're speuclating about, or statements by the kid, who we're seemingly told is a "genius" and "crazy" at the same time and we're supposed to magically believe couldn't possibly be stating the things for reasons other than the desire to be purely honest in his beliefs.

He did have green hair. I noted that too, but for as bad as his hair looks now, if he dyed it green... it would have been a lot worse looking. I guess that maybe that's why he didn't dye it green. IDK. Maybe dying his hair had nothing to do with the joker though. Who knows. But I have never seen somebody dye their hair green... I have seen orange, pink, blue, but never green.

He'll be back in court on the 30th. I am guessing he'll have the same hair style.

This is what his hairstyle made me think of

And for as odd as he looks and behaved in the courtroom, he isn't scary. He isn't scary on the same level I am sure the Manson followers were in the 60s.

can you imagine what that guy would look like AFTER they hook him up to some electrodes?

What should really make people realize about this guy is...he obviously had the knowledge and ability to kill the people in that theater without even being there. Think about it. He rigged up his apt, in such a way, that it took cops, what, 2 days, to really infiltrate? This is a person who, in my opinion, could have EASILY developed some sort of device, attended a portion of the movie in order to place and arm the device, leave, and activate it, killing nearly EVERYONE, without ever having to be in the room.

But he CHOSE not to go that rout. He CHOSE to be present. To see his victims, as they died by his actions. Simply bombing the place was not what he was after. He wanted to see them, as he pulled the trigger. He wanted to witness death, to have that since of power you get, when you have something in your crosshairs.

He's a dead man walking. My only real hope is, that we don't spend too much money convicting him.

He'll probably never be allowed in the prisons general population. Other criminals are saying how they want to kill him already. It's kind of sick how they'll justify murdering somebody. Is killing somebody in prison some kind of sport to avoid boredom? I think it's really strange how prisoners have a moral code where murdering and raping other inmates is social duty and justifiable. They are a bunch of sickos.

Well.....yeah. I mean....they're in prison.

They didn't get there by playing a bad round of monopoly.

That's true...

But something I always thought interesting... most of the people in the Manson Family cult really turned their lives around despite the atrocity of their crimes. Many of them were rehabilitated, but none of them have ever been released. I wonder if that is possible with this guy too.

Even sociopaths can do well in a structured environment.

Having said that, I'm not believing any of the stuff coming out about the shooter. Most of it is speculation. It will be months before a true picture emerges.

The shooter, according to the NY Daily News, is now acting as if he has amnesia. Jail staff thinks he's faking it.

they should have let Manson out. Roman P had a million dollar open contract on Manson. He would have been croaked within a couple days

a couple jumper cables attached to him in the right place would bring the memory back really quickly

Does he think this will be a good defense?

Does he think this will be a good defense?

What other options does he have? It is the only option. Of course he is going to fake this in order to save his sorry butt.
People have already started buying into his crap. Listen to the news commentators comment on how he can barely keep his eyes open and not looking at people. He must be crazy, duh.

This is just like the shooter of the Arizona congresswoman.

Unfortunately, what can you do about these people until they do something?

That notion is sickening and pathetic.

I would like you to say that to the families of the victims.

Maybe the denial is common after something like this. It cannot be amnesia and more likely schizophrenia, but that's even if he has schizophrenia. He will need to be diagnosed, and I doubt somebody could fake a condition like that.

Psychiatrists have been practicing medicine longer than he's been practicing acting crazy. they will see right through him.

He asked somebody how the movie ended....

Speaking of which, the guy was supposedly a big Batman Fan. And now he'll never see the complete final film of what was a pretty good trilogy.

I hope he gets the death penalty and, as a last request, he asks to see the Batman movie.

Instead, they show him the Val Kilmer movie...
