Washington state first to launch Facebook voter registration

The state already has an online registration process, this is just an extension of it.

Horrible idea just because it uses Facebook, if it used just a normal govment site I would have no problem.

It draws information from facebook, but the data transmits to the state government, not facebook. Assuming the description in the article is accurate, there's no security risk. (even if someone had hacked your facebook account, they need information facebook does not have to actually register you)

The more people who vote, the more legitimate the election. Something I don't think we currently have. I support most efforts to get the vote out.

Yes, but do you want people who are not educated enough to make an informed vote voting?

Yes I do. Because it has nothing to do with how educated or informed they are. They are separate issues IMO.

I don't see how our system can be considered legitimate of the leaders do not actually represent a majority.

Interesting how this will play out for my state.

What? Using a MORE EXPENSIVE service to register voters is better? The primary objection to voter ID laws is that "the poor" are somehow denied "access" to voting because of a $20 every six year fee for an ID (still required for Facebook registration). How is granting internet access not more of a burden/disadvantage for the poor? I realize that since WA votes "correctly" (demorat) that no challenge will be made yet how does this not make it less apt that poor people will register?
