More Americans went on disability than found jobs in last 3 months

More Americans went on disability than found jobs over the last three months, according to fresh figures crunched by the Senate Budget Committee. Underscoring the extent of the recent slowdown in the economy, the startling numbers show that between April and June, a total of 246,000 people enrolled in the Social Security Disability Insurance program. In the same period, just 225,000 found jobs.

It occurs to me this is an indication folks are doing what they can to survive. Also an opportunity for Mitt. His staff should be rolling this story into an ad that they should be playing 24/7 until the election. They don't even have to comment upon it, just feature the headline over and over again, maybe combine it with Obama quotes about the economy.

Expect this trend to continue, as the backlog for SSDI claims is HUGE:

    From your link:

Most reporting companies suggest they have observed little evidence that the recession has broadly impacted claims in any significant way. Most companies report little change in claim incidence or termination rates.
Meaning that people are not going on disability just because they can't find work.

Also, SSDI is different than Long-term disability. I know first hand getting on SSD is a pain in the ass as I have helped someone with that paperwork. The claim took almost a year and this person had documented MS for the last 8 years and finally progressed to the point she could no longer work.

It took my mom 3 weeks and absolutely no medical records. Crazy.

It took my youngest brother over 18 months and he even had the VA on his side and used a lawyer. The SS hearing board seems intent on delay.

She had to have been examined by someone, they do not approve claims with ZERO medical records from somebody. The person I helped just had to provide the doctors name and they went to her doctor's office and picked up the copies that her doctor made. She had three huge volumes of records as well.

The 3 weeks seems dubious to me as well since it take a week to even get in the system to look to see if they have started processing the claim and it usually takes a month at the quickest to evaluate a claim. The quickest claim I have seen done personally is 3 months and that person was paralyzed.

If she submitted anything all she'd have had is records from surgery. It's pretty obvious when you meet her that she's mentally incapable of much more than breathing due to the drugs and abuse she's inflicted upon herself.

But yeah, from the day she filed to the day she was approved it was less than a month.

So recession going strong since 2008. Glad to see that the government doesn't give a crap about the people. If we were all a bank, they would have bailed us out by now.
You know the time is right to take control, we gotta take offense against the status quo
