I keep wondering when I'm going to pull up the Huffington Post on my laptop to read that someone pulled out a gun and shot members of the Westboro Baptist Church. I don't condone that behavior, mind you, and if anyone is reading this and thinking of doing that, please don't. Get counseling instead. What I am saying is that kind of news won't surprise me. If I read that, I would not be saying, "I just can't believe it. Who would want to hurt those nice people?"

Sage Stallone Death: Westboro Baptist Church Plans To Picket Actor's Funeral

Members of the Westboro Baptist Church have been called to picket actor Sage Stallone's funeral on account of his "adulterous dad," Sylvester Stallone.

After it was announced that the 36-year-old actor had died on July 13, Margie Phelps, daughter of Westboro leader Fred Phelps, tweeted to her 5,600 followers, urging them to picket Stallone's funeral.

"Thrice-married rebel taught his son to mock God. ‪#picketfuneral‬," Phelps first tweeted on July 13.

The Westboro Baptist Church, infamous for its organized pickets at military funerals as part of its anti-gay agenda, is apparently targeting Sage because of his father's previous relationships.

"Adulterous dad brought wrath of God on son. ‪#BloodOnDadsHands‬ ‪#picketfuneral‬ ‪#woe‬," Phelps tweeted, adding, "Tell @TheSlyStallone to mourn for his sins, not pimp out son's dead body to more proud sin!"

Sylvester Stallone has been married three times and Sage was his first child with his first wife, Sasha Czack, to whom he was married from 1975 to 1985, according to MTV.

Sylvester has asked that his family's privacy be respected during this difficult time.

are the press till covering them?

I wonder if there will come a time when people will just point and laugh at them, instead of being offended.

It's fairly obvious by now they are just a bunch of lawyers making money off lawsuits.

The freaks at WBC will go away when their attempts to shock us fail to evoke a response. These are not normal homophobes. In fact, I doubt their main concern is homosexuality at all. They are self-dubbed media whores who follow the bizarre vendettas of the family patriarch. They seek their self-interest, which is really Fred Phelp's interest, and that is attention and an audience.

Do not feed the trolls.

WBC do make me reconsider freedom of speech. I think if there is a hell, there's a place real special for them.

I agree. If someone did gun them down, I wouldn't react with outrage. I would be more like, "Okay, you're not supposed to do that. You're not allowed to shoot people because you don't like them ... but I get it."

I'd be lying if I said I haven't strongly considered it. Counseling won't save them if they step foot in this town.

It would be extremely difficult to find a jury that wouldn't be biased for the person accused of murdering them. The defense attorney would probably just have to say, "temporary insanity" and the jury would think, "Sure, I believe that." It would be like an episode of LA Law that I saw. Michael Kusak was defending a woman who shot someone who committed some horrible crime against her daughter. I was something really heinous; he had raped her and then slashed her to death or something. The mother blew up in a rage and shot him. Kusak spent his summation describing in great detail the brutal crime the murdered man had committed. Then at the end, he said, "Find my client not guilty by reason of temporary insanity. It's the only way you can let her go."

There's no doubt in my mind that I'd go to prison for the rest of my life, but that's a risk I'd have to accept. I consider terminating key members of westboro as a service to the country, no different than when the FBI dismantled the KKK.

They are only as important or pertinent as the amount of attention they recieve..

That's not very Libertarian of you. In fact the Westboro Baptist Church is one logical conclusion of Libertarianism.

I'm a nationalist before anything else. The westboro church would have freedoms and liberties stripped the populace in favor of their own twisted religious ideology, so I don't see how you come to that conclusion.

Ive seen their church, in Topeka, cuz im from around there, and its more like a compound. I heard that the Chruch is mostly the Phelps family and extended family members.

I never advocate new laws. However.

I think it should be against the law to interfere with funerals. Christian, indeed. Jerks.

These people need to eff off and die already. What hateful wastes of space.

These things are not indulging in free speech -- they are stalking people and harassing them in order to try to hurt them.

In a sane world, these lunatics would already be institutionalized.

Bunch o' douchebags doing douchebag things.

I'm a nationalist before anything else.

Really, under your name it says "Lean: Libertarian"

Libertarians are internationalists, not nationalists.

The westboro church would have freedoms and liberties stripped the populace in favor of their own twisted religious ideology, so I don't see how you come to that conclusion.

Actually the WBC don't have an actual "religious ideology." What they is are a bunch of lawyers who go around and sue municipalities who block their "free speech", or if people get bent out of shape and take a swing at them, they sue them for assault.

The WBC is the logical conclusion of Libertarianism ideology though, the Libertarian ideology that says anything goes that isn't direct assault.

People need to realize that Fred Phelps is nothing more than a con artist running a provoke and sue scam. He and his family provoke the people by making announcements and protesting at funerals. The families and towns get mad and do something to deny the Phelps their rights. The Phelps 'church' sues and collect court winnings and attorney fees.So two things can be done to stop them.Limit attourny fee awards and stop giving these lowest form of ambulance chasers tv time.

I consider myself a nationalist libertarian. I believe in smaller government as a general principal so that it would apply to all countries. That said given diffrent cultures in the world the government shold be local as possible to serve the local populace. I do not know what you mean by international for libertarians. I would like the movement to become international but I would not welcome internatioal pressure to change the way things are done in America just I do not like pressue to change how things are done in the State of Oklahoma. I of course would by one to apply pressure for my own State.

I do not intend to do anyting to WBC since I do not want to go to prison and I would be against my libertarian beliefs.

I think that a funeral is a religious service (1st Amendment right) and a narrow exception can be made for prohibiting the WBC from protesting it.

You're obviously ignorant of what Libertarianism is. Not surprised after seeing your train wreck in the Ask a Texan thread.

They're Southern Baptists with strong Calvinist influence. You should do some homework before shooting your mouth off.

The WBC is the logical conclusion of Libertarianism ideology though, the Libertarian ideology that says anything goes that isn't direct assault.

Which Libertarian ideology? It's a multifaceted political philosophy with differing leans and views.

BULL. LIbertarians believe in personal responsibility and good ethics. WBC is an example of the evil man's mind can manifest.

I'm sorry to say this, but I hope those Westboro critters get what's coming to them on this Earth and beyond. The sooner the better.

It is people like those with WBC who make resaonable people reconsider freedoms. Good people see no place for them in a civil world.
