If the police were on alert for the suspect, they probably already had their guns drawn when they knocked on the door. Then as they heard the door being opened, they would likely aim their own weapons at whoever was opening the door. If the guy was pointing his weapon at them, then they would likely fire before he was able to shoot one of them (since they suspected they very well may be facing the dangerous guy they were after). Now, if the guy was pointing his gun at the floor, then they likely would have told him to "drop your weapon".

It is possible that they shot the guy without provocation.

Honestly, unless more info comes out, I will give the cops the benefit of the doubt. I don't think more will come out, considering the circumstances of the incident though.

Certain parts of the story don't seem right. Every time I've been arrested at my house, there were about 5 or 6 cops there and that was just small time ****. Granted, Florida likely does things differently, but this guy was wanted for murder, and they only send 3 guys? Also, I've lived in enough apartment complexes to know that the spot a vehicle is parked rarely, if ever, correlates to the drivers apartment, except in cases of assigned parking, and even then, there's always some asshole who parks in your spot. Why didn't they verify the actual suspects apartment number?

The one thing that's really bugging the **** out of me: They said the guy already had his gun aimed at them, yet the only person to open fire was a deputy. That alone tells me something is off.

    LMAO
What planet do you live on where I said its illegal to point a gun at people on your property?

    My statement still stands:

    read it slow

    per the info we have

    cops didn't screw up

he screwed up if he did come to the door with his gun drawn and pointing at people

I could use your same "logic"
What florida law makes it illegal for a cop to shoot a person pointing a gun at them?

see how stupid and meaningless that question is

Technically, if he is living in an apartment building, right outside his door would not be his property necessarily. In fact, there are many apartment buildings that do not allow guns in them. Most of the ones I have lived in actually had this rule.

theres a lot of "technicalities" that could be said to his question because its meaningless and irrelevant to the story and (current) facts at hand

My bad, I was trying to make sense of your claim that the homeowner in some way screwed up. I'm glad you agree that he did nothing illegal... I understand now - you're just making a poor argument.

Given that he was a innocent citizen exhibiting legal behavior, it would have been perfectly reasonable for him to have shot the gun to save his life.

we arent debating whether they went to the right house LMAO

    we are debating the shooting

and if the story is true and theres no more to it, they shot the right guy, it was the guy pointing the gun at them.

There goal was to search for a murder suspect, not to shoot anybody, so they most certainly didnt shoot the wrong guy in reality. The only way they could have shot the wrong guy is if they shot another guy who didnt have a gun pointed at them.

Cops go to the wrong house or a place where the suspect isnt all the time. Typically people dont open the door with a gun pointed at them

Cops came to my house looking for someone I never heard of who was a rapist ( had the same last name and got bad info, weekday around 2am), cops came to my house asking if I seen a runaway sat 1pm because I coached her in softball, cops came to my house looking for my moms no good brother twice, ( middle of night cant remember when and on thanksgiving dinner time)

never opened the door without looking to see who it was, asked who it was or pointing my gun at whoever was there

    why?
because under the circumstances that would be stupid

As I understand it, he was standing inside his door, not right outside it.

As far as the law goes, the apartment is his home. He is leasing it. Had he survived the encounter - and guns were indeed prohibited in the apartment - I suppose they could have evicted him for breach of contract, but a line in a lease agreement doesn't take away your right to self defense.

no the argument is very sound and full proof per the CURRENT facts we have LMAO

the proof is he got himself killed

and unless you MAKE UP stuff that inst in the news story it would not have been perfectly reasonable for him to have shot the gun to save his life. He was the aggressor for no justified reason, if he shot one of the cops even if he believed it was to save his life he I sure they would have charged him with murder.

Now if MORE to the story comes out that could change but currently, he got himself shot and he seems lto have made a very stupid and costly mistake.

SO my statement still stands, with the info at hand he factually screwed up
