London 2012 Olympics security! Too much?

Is this too much or is this a fair response to the world we live in? Personally I think London is an obvious target and was already attacked in the 7/7 bombings so It makes sense to bulk up the security to deter any potential attacks!

We will never know the true security precautions that take place during Olympic games.

    All precautions must be taken.

I mean hell I knew a few lads up in whistler who worked at a snowmobile tour company who went camping one night I the woods during then Olympics and ran into a JTF2 camp who spotted them before hand (Canadian SAS) sorounding the Olympic venues.

I don't mind what they're setting up London.

What would the British people rather have? Military for a month, or terrorist attacks and another election and public enquiries?

    I'd take the former.

exactly mate bulk up for nothing or cut costs and see what happens, the latter has far too many risks!

It's unfortunate though, the idea of soldiers of war having to protect an inspiration for peace, the nations of the world gathering under one flag (the Olympic one) in a peaceful competition of strength, endurance and will.

Dont worry, the Torries outsourced it to a private contractor so the security is very lax if at all. The government has had to call in thousands of troops to take up the slack and I bet those areas where the private contractor actually manages to for-fill the contract, then the "security" will be snot nosed teenagers half drunk and looking at the ladies.

    The hell it was.

High security at Olympics pre-dates 9/11 by decades. The only thing 9/11 did was smack America over the head and take them some what into reality where the rest of us had lived for decades.
