How so? The Brits had been under terror threats since donkey years.. as were the Spanish, French and Germans and Italians. Terror was nothing new in Europe.

Now on scale, well yea, but as a terror act? Nope... just more of the same.

scale, organisation, effect. 9/11 was and still is probably the most lethal and well excuted act of terror in History and completley changed our outlook on fighting Terror attacks. The IRA years were bloody but they were isolated small attacks where as 9/11's scale was huge in comparison and not only managed to hit its targets but also managed to paralyse the worlds strongest superpower. I mean look at the Madrid bombings they made ETA's previous bloodshed look like a nice day in the park.

Considering that the UK was rounding up another group of suspected terrorists just a week or so ago, beefing up security seems like a good... if belated... call. There doesn't seem to be much time to train thousands of additional security, though. I wouldn't be surprised if British Intelligence hadn't gotten wind of potential problems, and acted immediately to nip it in the bud. Anyway, good call for the Brits. Really, can't be too careful in this world.

Since London is a terrorist producing epicenter, it makes perfect sense.

Now, if the Brits were only to make themselves a bit less hospitable to Jihadists in general, that would be even better.

How about the Atlanta games? Remember the bomb?

True story: I was in Atlanta on a business trip sometime in the late 90s. I spent too much time at the convention center and needed a break. So I took a little walk through this park and sat down for a bit. I was overwhelmed with an incredibly strong sense of deja vu that I could not shake. It was so bad, I was dizzy and I feel my hair standing on end. It was not until I got up and looked around some more did I realize that not only was I in the exact same park where the infamous bomb went off, I was also close to the exact spot. I remember seeing endless coverage of it, so somewhere tucked in my mind was the memory of the park. It was one of the weirdest feelings I have ever experienced.

You know, they’re standing there with no clothes. ‘Is everybody OK?’ And you see these incredible looking women, and so I sort of get away with things like that.”

Atlanta was hell on earth. Some poor sluck who was actually a hero had his life completely ruined by the FBI, who decided that he had done it, then set about trying to prove he'd done it.

It was, in fact, done by a crazy anti-abortion dickwad who liked to blow up women's health clinics and decided to branch out.

It seems the government knew 10 months ago that their preferred private security firm wasn't up to snuff... Yet more incompetence from Theresa May.

The original contract was for 10,000. GS4 can only supply 4,000. It seems that the 3,500 soldiers will replace the missing 6,000 security personnel.

Seeing how most terrorist attacks are suicide bombings then yes the commandos in boats, mounted machine guns, surface to air missiles, helicopters, navy carrier, and other military use are excessive and a total waste of money. Anything more than extra police and medal detectors are excessive.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

show of force never hurts though! As an American you can appreciate that!
