Education is a national issue. It's crucial to our global competitiveness. A well educated populous is clearly necessary for commerce.

that is simply silly. The issue of one nation with one people and one set of laws is something beyond the understanding of many now due to their own provinciality and limited grasp of what is necessary for America to compete on a world wide basis.

But a time will come when this issue will the THE issue of the day.

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

I realize that such considerations are far beyond the grasp of many provincialist thinkers today. But eventually, it will be an idea that must be examined and debated.

We must decide if we are one nation with one people.
This nonsense is not new. Do you not recall "from each according to their ability, to each according to their need" being said sometime in the past? ;-)

I have no idea what that has to do with reforming federalism and considering some options on that issue.

But since you brought it up - how could you have anything other than each according to their ability? One cannot provide more or do more or contribute more than their ability to do so.

Yeah I know. Living happily in one case and then having the government impose stricter rules on your causing you to take action.....yep, DEFINITELY worthy of considering that such a person taking action isn't patriotic.

Thanks for the wonderfully fun laugh.
