    If you had bothered to read my posts, you would have been able to deduct that I was of the same opinion as you, but instead, whether due to lack of comprehension you lash into a verbal attack. Rotting in jail for a code violation seems a bit extreme to me, but apparently not to you, and some of the language in your posts does suggest that you are angry, and arrogant, or maybe it's not angry but just plain "mad".

    Had he stopped the violation after it happened, he wouldn't be in jail. He's in jail, not just because of a single instance of a code violation, but the repeated, weekly violation of said code violation. It's like speeding. If you speed once, they'll pull you over and give you a ticket. If you speed a lot, you'll get a lot of tickets with increasing severity. However, if you speed down the same stretch of road every single week with the mounds of tickets piling up in the passenger seat, they're eventually going to revoke your license, take your car and put your ass behind bars. You'll deserve everything you got because you purposely flaunted the law.

    What makes me angry are all the idiots who can't get the fact that this moron is repeatedly and flagrantly ignoring the law for years on end and when he gets thrown into jail, they can't accept that he got thrown into jail for being a moron, they have to pretend his religion had anything to do with it. It's like my example above, the guy sitting in his cell, pissed off that he's in jail, thinking he's there because he's black. It ain't so, dumbass, you're there because you're stupid.
    There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

    That's true, but rotting in jail for code violations is a bit much when some people are able to get away with murder. I know you were just venting.

    Religion is something that conservatives try and use the Constitution on, as their defense, that is why they deflect to that. You can try and make them aware that he was violating the law, but they continue to insist that it was because of his religion, and you're not going to change their mind. They're doing the same thing with Obamacare. Some company, because its owners are Catholic claim that they are being forced against their religion to provide contraceptives to their employees, when some of their employees may not even be Catholic and nobody is forcing them to "use" contraceptives.

    No, it's not a bit much, it's the law. What happened to this idiot is his own fault, I feel absolutely no sympathy for him. Hopefully, this will stop him from violating the law in the future, knowing what the potential consequences are. I somehow doubt it, I figure the week he gets out of jail, he'll do it again.

    It would be one thing if this was actually a case of religious discrimination but it's not. The religious tend to try to play the religion card willy-nilly whenever things aren't going there way, just like some people use the race-card any time anyone involved happens to be non-white. However, when you point out that they're wrong, produce definitive evidence that they're wrong, and they keep doing it over and over and over, being pissed off is a wholly warranted response to what amounts to religious stupidity.

    I think stiff fines will dry up his coffers pretty quick, and if he can't pay he should go to jail.

    Unfortunately some Federal judge has already ruled on the side of the company, so it will probably end up going to the Supreme Court, and we don't know if any of the Republican Justices will apply the law or just vote party-line. Once they rule in favor of the supposed victims, others will use the same tactics and a new pattern will be set.

    Ah, so religious persecution is ok if it is sporadic?
    You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

    So people are allowed to break the law as long as they are practicing religion?

    More like, the law can't violate their right to practice.

    Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;
    The code prohibited the home owner from exercising his First Amendment rights on his own property.

    No it didnt. His refusal to comply with the codes was the problem not his practising his religion. This is not about religion. He could have been running an underwear factory or been having moose lodge meetings and he would have had the same problems with the building code violations. Proclaiming you are doing something religous does not ever ever ever allow you to break the law.
    If they had passed a law specifically targeting religion you could have case but this is not about religion no matter how much you want it to be.
