Loved McHale's navy growing up. RIP

p.s., didn't know he was married to Ethel Merman for 38 days. :shock:
 
One heck of an actor. I first noticed him in McHale's Navy and Airwolf, but came to admire his work as I got older. My wife loves the show JAG and fills up the DVR with every re-run of that show until she gets around to watching it. Strange thing is, she just watched the episode where Ernest guest starred just last week. He had a great smile and will be missed. If I should live to be 95 (please God, don't let me live to be that old), I can only hope to be as vibrant and active as he was.
 
He also served in the Navy for 10 years.
