Let the countries that depend on Persian Gulf oil defend the production of crude oil and the transit of tankers themselves. Why send US forces in such large numbers to the region when President Obama has granted each of Iran's twenty top trade partners blanket exemptions from sanctions? Doesn't make sense.

The US won't want any big ships caught up in the Persian Gulf if war breaks out.. This probably what they call 'exercises' or whatever they call that.

It would probably be a good idea to get the entire Fifth Fleet out of its base in Bahrain. No blood for oil.

It's true the US doesn't insist on the directly involved and friendly countries to play their part.

Having said that, it's absolutely necessary and prudent, to maintain an American military presence in the area to combat Iran's intentions, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States who are enemies of Iran should also be playing a prominent role as should the European nations.

You could do the liberal thing, and go over as a human shield.

When Iran goes nuclear Saudi Arabia will go nuclear. And the nonproliferation regime established by the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty is over because Iran will have shown how to game the system. I don't think this can be stopped. America should make itself into as small a target as possible.

You are forgetting that irrespectively whether America withdraws or isolates itself, The Iranian Regime will always consider the US as one of its mayor enemies and will continue in its attempt to destabilize America's influence in the region and in the world.

Liberals crack me up. When a conservative president uses military might to intimidate a world neighbor, for whatever reason, he is just abhorrent, but its OK when its your side is doing it to further US interests abroad and world peace.

I thought you guys were all for Iran having their own nuclear weapons? After all its not fair if they don't, right? It's not a level playing field. That's the rhetoric I see here quite often.

More rhetoric from the left: When a Republican does something like this it's all about oil. Anything related to national security near the middle east and its all about the oil. Funny how I don't see this phenomenon any more since Obama's been POTUS.

Let the embargo work. Isn't that what liberals said about Iraq? Why not do that now? You can starve millions of people to death without firing a shot. This way the US can keep their service men and women from harms way and you still get to kill a bunch of them.

After all, liberals have touted the killings Obama has become quite noted for lately. Many of you celebrate it.

Or here's a novel concept: practice what you preach.
