Texas man gets 40 years in stand-your-ground case

There is a huge difference between the Zimmerman case and the one here in Houston. In the Texas case, a guy with a gun walked onto his neighbor's property, threatening them with a gun, before shooting 3 unarmed people, one of which who died. And besides, the Castle Doctrine in Texas is a lot different than Stand Your Ground in Florida. The only thing Florida's Stand Your Ground law is doing in Texas is making some looneys believe that they have a license to kill, and then ending up in prison.

I take issue with this sentence of the article:

Texas' version of a stand-your-ground law is known as the Castle Doctrine.

Castle Doctrine is a defense of habitation law, meaning that it only applies to ones dwelling. The author obviously has no idea what they're talking about, which is further exemplified by the shameless comparison to the Zimmerman case.

In fact, the law would have supported the victims if they had shot Rodriguez.

how can someone not tell the difference between the castle doctrine and stand your ground or any other self defense laws.the guy was clearly an idiot with no idea on what his states laws were.

on the plus side atleast his gun didnt come from eric holder or fast and furious:shock:
