Secret Service Takes Forks Away From Latinos At Obama Event

Was Rubio in attendance? Was Obama scared that Rubio would attack him with a spork? Face it, Obama pandered to the hispanic vote with his abuse of power declaration, then goes in and insults them by taking their silverware....What a joke this guy is.

j-mac

J-mac lol seriously you need to chill...Obama did not order the forks removed...the secret service did...and once again Im going to say that I defer security of the president and the subsequent decisions to that end to the Secret Service who are the experts at it..

So, Obama has pissed off his base so badly that they can't even trust that in a room full of democrats he is safe? Wow, that says it all people.

It's very strange indeed. I didn't see in the article if the SS took away pencils and pens or other pointed objects as well. I'd be interested to understand the SS motivation.

Secret Services function is to protect the president...I defer to thier expertise in making the decision to take the forks. None of us were there and none of us are privvy to the what made the SS come to that decision

The President won't be able to go many places in this country or any other if "forks" are now banned in his presence.

I love how it must be about race

Seriously, the SS did a weird thing, better to be overcautious I guess, but this is just a non-issue, Obama isn't scared of Latino's, neither is the SS, just stop with the conspiracy crap.
Well, jumping to conclusions isn't just for Democrats anymore apparently.

I'm saying I don't know, I don't have an expertise in security like the SS does, but me not having an explanation doesn't automatically make it racist. Good grief.
So you're saying it's possible. I agree.

You know, tie pins can put an eye out too. Perhaps all pointed objects of any type, size, sort or function also need to be banned around Obama. Just fill the room with soft cushy things and plastic flatware. Everyone eats with their hands and drinks out of Styrofoam cups. Glass can kill after all... and plastic splinters and could be used as a weapon.

I guess we could go all 1984, and just have the President address whom he wants via closed circuit. Or would that be OZ...?

It'd be OZ but we'd already know OZ was fake sooo.... instant disappointment. Actually, that fits Obama very well.

White children say, "Stop looking at me!"

What do Hispanic children say? "Viva La Mehico!"?

I think all politicians should take note.

The Secret Service doesn't comment on procedure.

End of story.

Case Closed.

Oh sweet Jesus this has to be one of the dumbest threads I have seen. While this doesn’t happen at every single event, it does happen often. In one instance I was at a banquet. Just before the President made his brief appearance they came around and picked up all the silverware. When he left they rolled the silverware back out.

A couple things that make my experience particularly notable:

1. All of us at the banquet were embassy employees, which meant we all had security clearances or were married to people with security clearances, and still had to give up the silverware.
2. The President who came wasn’t even a sitting President, but a former one.

Now, I have also been at events where we didn’t have to do that. I am not certain what the determining factors are, and the Secret Service sure as hell isn’t going to enlighten us on that, but it certainly wasn’t due to ethnicity. And even aside from all of that, the President doesn’t dictate security procedures.

There are plenty of legitimate faults to find with the President. Why must people resort to the most asinine non-stories?

Because a legit source published the story and none of us "civilians" had ever heard of such a thing, that's why. Glad you've explained this (see Post #30), but there's no need to act as if the rest of us were "resorting" to "asinine non-stories."

Well, then aren't you glad that Obama's media friends broke the story? Ha, ha....Major fail.

j-mac

It's a sensationalist, stupid story regardless of who "broke" it. My god, you really are Stinger reborn.

I don't get it. It's not the first Obama event directed at the Hispanic demographic. One event that just happens to be Hispanic oriented and this happens; all of a sudden it's a race thing. Good job FOX Nation, you've proven your "fair and balanced" slogan once again.

Oh Bull....If this were a Republican president that the SS decided to remove forks and knives, you'd be among the people screaming racism....So, good for the goose, good for the gander, now take your medicine.

j-mac

If it was a Republican president it wouldn't be reported.

Uh, no -- it was an asinine non-story from jump.

If it wasn't for Fox, where would we get an unbiased news report?

I apologize if I came off snarky. Your post at #30 was rational, but the OP is not. People really should exercise their critical thinking skills when they see stories like this. Even if I were in a different line of work and I saw an article with that headline my first thought would be “That doesn’t sound right, perhaps there is more to this”. Re-read the OP and tell me if you think any critical thinking or desire for the truth was at play in it.

Ok, I'll take your word for it...Isn't it wonderful that the administration doesn't come out to even try and think of the optics that they are presenting? I know SS makes those decisions, and that they don't comment on their procedures, however, many in here like to attack FOX News for this when I posted this story, it was in the Politico, (An Obama media outlet) complete with video. I posted the FOX story so that it wouldn't be relegated to the blogs section.

So, if it is so stupid to talk about this, if it is so dumb to wonder why it is that the SS is hypothesizing that a fork is a threat to the POTUS, if you think that there are legitimate things to ding Obama on, then, why post in the thread? Why waste your progressive time on a message board where people are going to disagree strongly with your view? Why not point out to us what it is that you think is legitimate criticism of Obama?

I'd be interested in hearing that.

Again, and you probably missed it, but this is actually a Politico story. But you're right on one thing...It is the first that we have heard about that this happens. And to the group that just a week earlier he was out there with his cynical, political pandering with the end run around Congress (once again) to grant asylum to illegal aliens.

But thanks for showing yet again that you rarely actually read the threads, but rather just knee jerk your way into them with insults, and dumb assed provocations.

What little I know of Secret Service operations, crowd security is not totally unknown to me. If we recieved intelligence on a possible occurrence we investigated the claim as well as we could, then the authority made a decsion on the value of what reaction to take in response..Keep in mind your responsibility is to PROTECT an individual or a few while they are in the midst of crowds of people. It isnt an easy task.
Im assuming the Secret Service had intelligence that made necessary in their mind to take the forks...can I explain thier reasoning...NO.
I just doubt they did it for any other reason than they believed it was necessary to assure the safety of the Pres. No pres would want the secret service taking overbearing security action during a CAMPAIGN event when your trying to garner votes.

Ok, wow. Doesn't that say something, that there may have been a threat at a friendly event? Sure doesn't sound like the we are getting the entire story from MSM outlets on Obama popularity does it?
