    wrong!!

when they apply for a Green Card, they might be deported. When they apply to renew their Green Card, they migth be deported.

ALL this rule does is say they will not immediately be deported for simply being illegal. But as soon as they come forward, they may be deported for other reasons.

Presidents are not Kings. It's likely mitt would try to do something like this. I'd say its far from likely that he'd succeed.
    Samantics, but fair enough.

Perhaps I am wrong but it was understanding that these people can now get work permits. Wouldn't that constitute coming forward.

I just searched for a copy of the EO. didn't find it on the WO site or others. It would be interesting to read the exact wording of the EO. I would have thought the White House would have it posted. It had others but I didn't see the immigration (illegal) one.
    Anyone have a link?

Probably previous Republican Presidents didn't consider doing this in order not to lose republican vote, whereas Obama is considering this action to attract democratic (and immigrant) vote.

However, it is a dubious move on Obama's part because it can only attract even more illegals.

    Tim-
Your preaching to a left-leaning poster like this would only seem credible had you not posted on the first page while ignoring the OP which was posted in a manner that was "Looking at issues as left and right through rose colored glasses" thereby giving them credibility on DP with your support.

You are right though. Conservatives should stop compromising.
They seem to have done just that.
