Correct. Simply saying he will not go after them and deport them isn't the same thing as amnesty (yet the end result is the same, some illegal aliens will be allowed to stay in the US legally).

You see no timing issue with this order in an election year?
How is this order a deterent of someone crossing today with their young kids?

This order is pure political bs. Even Obama state major overall is needed. So why piece meal with this order and make the issue more complex?
Yep I agree it was pure political move..but seeing how the do nothing congress is just sitting around President Obama figured he do the compassionate, common sense ,thing for these children of illegal immigrants I say bravo! And if congress wants to pass the dream act even better! Some of these ,"children" served in our military, own businesses , and have much to contribute to our society. Why do you think we should deport them? They did nothing wrong.

    1.They are here illegally.
2.Not deporting them sends a message to everyone else outside the USA to come here illegally.

    They did nothing wrong.
They most certainly did do wrong. They used education and services that are for citizens. Once they turned 18 they are no longer here in this country against their will,so they are flaunting the fact they are here illegally. The fact they are here illegally and flaunting that fact means the government should arrest, jail and deport their ass.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

It is a complex issue. The "they did nothing wrong?" is not correct. They along with the parents entered the US illegally. So should we just ignore our immigration laws? What message does it say to those that have come into the US legally? Were they stupid to follow our laws and process?

For many years the federal govt. has turned a blind eye to the illegal alien issue. What do we do with the ones that crossed the border illegally 4 years ago, 3 years ago, today? Nothing Obama has done with this order addresses the problem of those that are still entering illegally.

Yes, we need reform. Caving in is not the solution.

You realize that we're experiencing significant NEGATIVE immigration under Obama, right? And over all, Obama has increased border security and has deported more illegals relative to his predecessor.
"The necessaries of life occasion the great expense of the poor. They find it difficult to get food, and the greater part of their little revenue is spent in getting it. The luxuries and vanities of life occasion the principal expense of the rich, and a magnificent house embellishes and sets off to the best advantage all the other luxuries and vanities which they possess. ... It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion."

Yes the parents were wrong but I don't feel we should punish the children it's not like they had a say in the matter and if you put yourself in their shoes you would do the same thing. I am certain they are afraid of being deported if they come,forward...I agree it's a complex issue and I do think we need to strengthen the border ...as long as we hire them they will keep coming its best to use that avenue I guess.....

Much of that is due to the economy, as it improves they will come back in droves.

So, never mind what the law says, if Obama does not like a law then he is under no obligation to enforce it? They are fine if they come young, get 12 years of free public education, then they can work for 12 years, pay taxes, but not vote, but once they turn 30/31 then we may simply deport them. That makes NO sense at all.

Not for nothing but this was so transparent and predictable that I predicted it (along with every other pandering tip of the hat to every special interest group) back in November of last year.

Many of us (even conservative types) have long held that some form of amnesty was going to be required as a component of the illegal immigration problem. What makes this despicable isnt that he did it...again...predictable...but that he has done it before the election for no other reason than to curry votes. Immigrants are just as much puppets and tokens to Obama as is the gay community. The only thing more sad than him doing it is how eagerly they dance at his slightest tug.
