Re: Sheriff: Father kills man sexually abusing his daughter

I think the decision for indictment should rest on one simple question. Was his response to witnessing his four year old daughter being molested be something you'd expect any father in the same situation to do? I'd say its resounding yes. I can't imagine my response being any different....at all.

Like it or not, you can't execute some one whos no longer a threat.
Actually you can, the justification being you were making sure the threat was completely eliminated. Just because you shoot someone doesnt mean they will go down, or stay down. It that situation the letter P must be applied. P for plenty. Of bullets. I prefer the Rhodensean method, two in the chest and at least one in the head. They generally stay down that way, permanately. If you dont use enough rounds corpes have an annoying tendancy to not stay dead.

Indictment, why? Thats just a waste of time, no jury in Texas will even think about convicting him of anything, except for being a hero.

Theres a fine line.....Once the threat has stopped, you must stop

You cannot continue to beat down the individual once, the individual is no longer a threat
So long as there is even a twitch the individual is a pontintial threat. You dont stop till they absolutely positively dead. Corpes have an annoying tendincy to not stay corpes.

How do you know any of that?

Under the letter of the law, indictment is possible or allowed. I personally think they shouldn't at all. If the DA pursue its, should be run out of office. But if he does decide to present it to a Grand Jury, indictment is very possible. My comment was geared towards the perspective of the DA weighing the decision.

And don't necessarily dub this guy as a "hero." My personal view of a hero is someone that goes well above and beyond what the average person would do. He responded in way your average father would do in this situation. At least I'd hope so.

I suppose your right, but I got a feeling in his families eyes he's a hero especially his daughter.

Damn. Hard to blame the guy. But I have to wonder if he will eventually get charged. Being that it is Texas, I would guess not.

I'm probably gonna get everyone's ire up, but this molester is a waste of space, food and air, IMO. I'd lay odds this was his 1st child either.

    I disagree.

Re: Sheriff: Father kills man sexually abusing his daughter

I try to imagine the imperative to defend my child and I fall short as I've yet to experience that bond.

But when I imagine my most valued loved one facing a threat to their life or safety at the hands of some evil bastard all I can conjure up is blind rage and heavy desire to hurt the evil cocksucker who made the attempt. This man, when interviewed, is said to have expressed remorse for the results of his actions. If he did then he's a better person than I imagine I'd be. I can't fathom remorse at the death of somebody who causes that kind of hurt to my family.
