Curt Schilling bounced from big show

Apparently plenty of conservatives are having trouble with that as well.

Especially one named Schilling.

LOL .... the problem is if and when government does not practice due diligence. We have governors all over, GOP and Dem, who make loans and give tax credits, sometimes hundreds of millions to one company, in order to get them to locate within their state. This concept is beyond the liberal mind in this thread, it would seem.

Even with Solyndra, the problem is not Solyndra seeking the loan. Its government awarding it without proper prudence.

If Solyndra, or 38 Studios, are shown to have commited fraud, or even been irresponsible, then let them reap the legal ramifications, and scorn. There is no evidence of Schilling, or 38 Studios, doing anything except failing at business.

Its the Government. To his credit, up in RI, it seems Chaffee was against all things 38 Studios. Seems the loan was from the prior Administration, and Chaffee was against it then.

Having heard Schilling's politics before on the radio, I do find it amusing and ironic that he went to a state for a loan.

Just because someone is against certain economic policies, doesn't mean they won't drink from the cow when the milk is free. It is ridiculous to think that he wouldn't take advantage of the money the state had gave him. You are saying he shouldn't have accepted money from the state, even though it would have made his company less competitive (if that was possible) just because of his stance? No business minded person would do that.

It is a good business decision, but given how he views things is why it makes it so funny.

I am waiting for just one conservative to call Schilling a hypocrite.

They can't do it. I love how easy it is for them to apologize for this prick.
Why is Schilling a hypocrite? What you and others like you expect is for people like Schilling to pay taxes and fund the government loan systems and then NOT take advantage of those programs their tax dollars are funding. Its the same idiocy you espouse when saying conservative governors should oppose programs like the stimulus which their citizens PAY for, and then not lobby for a cut. The reality is that they ARE paying for those programs. Now...if you want to create an opt out system where people dont HAVE to pay taxes for those programs...NOW we have a winner. Personally...I COMPLETELY AGREE...Schilling...but also NO ONE ELSE should have access to those loan programs because the government shouldnt be DOING IT. But as long AS they do and as long as people have no choice in whether or not they pay taxes for those programs then they would be foolish to NOT take advantage of them.

So...do we agree the government should STOP altogether offering those programs? Cuz...if so...then you and I may actually have finally found common ground. But if you maintain this idiotic notion that EVERYONE should pay taxes that support those programs but only liberals should exploit them...well...no...idiotic ideas are idiotic.

And BTW...here we have Schilling...a fairly wealthy individual that is not only taking out loans but also putting his own skin into the game to the tune of some 50+ million and at least TRYING to create a successful business venture which employed several hundred people...

and what are YOU bringing to the table, other than your hatred and loathing of an individual based on his political positions?

It is a good business decision, but given how he views things is why it makes it so funny.

Which requires liberals to deliberately distort, if not re-fabricate, the Conservative positions on State Governments, tax credits, and similar tools used to attract business.

Once again, liberals invent a strawman.

I am not saying conservative position, I am saying HIS position. Again nothing was wrong with what he did or the state did. I just find it funny.

Then quote us Schilling's "position" ?

Thanks you. You have restored my faith.

That really isn't the point. His statements in the past condemned others for this very thing. That's the crux of this.

Show us. Show us where he condemned state government for offering incentives for business location.

This IS the point. He can condemn all he wants, but as a business man, he would be a fool not to accept it while it is there. You can be against unemployment benefits, but if you are unemployed and they are there, are you not going to take them?

Then quote us Schilling's "position" ?

“Every dollar I can’t commit to my company that’s paid in taxes is paying a government that I believe is too big and doing way too much that I don’t want done.”

That is his position, but the reason why I am not all angry about it and find it rather amusing than that he is a hypocrite because he does state this as well.

I will tell you that the growth of our company 38 Studios is government doing -- gone right. I watched the speaker of the House who is a Democrat in Rhode Island adamantly push to create this job guarantee program, this job creation program along with Republicans and independents to do right by the people. When you have politicians, I don't care which side of the aisle they're from --

So the man does see some good with government involvement and I expect him to honor what he owes Rhode Island. It was just funny hearing him campaining for Scott Brown and then seeing this. If Schilling knew how expensive what he wanted to do was, I think he would have gone about things differently.

Is this a joke ? There is no contradiction. The GOP, and Conservatives in general, fully understand the concept of tax breaks, loans etc. to attract business. GOP Governors do it everywhere.

Try again. Or maybe the libs are full of themselves all over again. ;)

The man thinks too much money is going into government and it is hurting his business, but then gets a loan from Rhode Island using tax payers money. He made a good business investment, but the state of Rhode Island trying to get more business did a not so good business decision. You have to admit it is a little funny.

By the way, Schilling, nor his ideology, did anything wrong here. Rhode Island made the mistake and apparently the only person who believed so was the governor who campaigned against it.

Clearly you cannot make the link, as it does not exist. This is becoming pointless. Your position is folly, as you cannot document what you claimed.

I think he made his position quite clear. Schilling thinks he pays too much taxes and it hurts his company, yet he uses those taxpayer dollars, via a loan from the state, to help out his business. Seems pretty clear.

I never said he was wrong as a businessman. Nor did I infer fraud. (although I am betting this will get investigated) All I said was he's a flaming hypocrite. That's in addition to his normal prickly self.

I don't think it is hypocritical at all. Now if he did anything illegal to get that state funding, then I will change my story. Until then, I see it as a businessman taking advantage of an opportunity to help his business.

“It really is not that complicated, I just don’t understand HOW people don’t grasp the concept of ‘Free Market’, and why left alone, it WORKS!” - Curt Schilling, March 2010
Curt Schilling's Colossal Big Government, Free Market Hypocrisy

Schilling is a self-described conservative with a disdain for big government, which he considers intrusive and overbearing. He is a big believer in people helping themselves and solving their own problems.

A couple of lines from an old post on Schilling’s blog, 38 pitches, sums it up:

“If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.

“A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.”

“I’m not looking, never have been, for handouts,” he told Sean Hannity in March.

I’ve never taken a penny and I’ve done nothing but create jobs and create economy. And so how does that translate into welfare baby? I’ve tried to do right by people.

Yeah, not much.

If you have links to situations where he has said people shouldn't take out loans or declare bankruptcy the. By all means, show that to be the case and you will without question be correct that he is a hypocrite. I am unaware of this and you apparently know something we dont so don't keep us in suspenders...show the hypocrisy

Sure thing Vance. Reading is a problem here for you. Thanks for clearing that up.

Can't find much on google, but what I found is kinda hypocritical.
