    God.

This is one of the scariest comments I have EVER heard on this website.
Well ! Check the Constitution. You will see that you have no right to vote for President. Of course, that apparently might scare the **** out of you.

Then get back to me about how it felt to learn something new

How about this for an idea... and have it apply to all states

9 months prior to all Presidential elections, all voter rolls are purged. All citizens must re-register, and prove to their a State/County official or Notary Public they are who they say they are, or they are not allowed to vote.

This eliminates all the issued of dead people voting, or of people not entitled to vote voting. Personally, I would have no problem with that at all. Show ID and proof of citizenship every 4 years no matter what state you are in. Would cut out a lot of crap I would thing, to make something like that nationwide.

At least it would be fair instead of targeting specific American citizen groups. Voter ID is better. There are problems with voter ID, but as long as the money was provided to fix those problems, it would be fair.

I am not interested in a lecture about the electoral college. I know how it works. That's a trivial detail compared to the outrageously absurd comment that you made that takes a massive dump on the very essence of ALL citizens' right to vote. You called voting a PRIVILEGE. My god, how much farther can the Right slide??

How? If this happened whoever held the least amount of power in the country would be screaming like banshees that the majority is disenfranchising minority voters. Then we would have party hacks from both sides defending or attacking these procedures. If that happened we would have a huge discussion thread on DP and everything! Now we all know nothing like this would happen especially in the year of a weak economy and even weaker incumbent presidents record running for reelection !
The question is more important than the answer!

Key word there in bold and you hit on it....
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

That's not what he said. I'm in agreement with you that only citizens should vote. I'm not sure if I'm agreement that ALL adult citizens MUST be allowed to vote. I take stark offense to the very notion that voting could EVER be a privilege.

You have a link that this is what Florida is doing? I'd be interested in seeing this document. Thanks.

To me voting is an imperative. Yes, valid citizens must be given ample opportunity to vote.... I also do not think it's a privilege, yet it must be a breathing, alive, human, citizen. Not dead goldfish... not the family dog... not dead Auntie Velma and not the four guest workers at the plant from Columbia.
