Massive cyber attack on Iran came from U.S., report says

So what you are saying is this just another instance of the US policy, do as I say, not as I do? Nothing hypocritical about that eh?

Cat, kindly give the rhetoric a rest.

If you look in this thread I provided an instance, when in 1982," the United States discovered that Russia was stealing data on United States technology. So the CIA hatched a plot to insert a logic bomb into software that the agency knew the Russians were purchasing from a Canadian firm to operate pumps and valves on their natural gas pipeline. The equipment worked fine initially, but at a preprogrammed point, it caused valves in the pipeline to malfunction, creating a pressure buildup that exploded into a fireball so large it was captured by orbiting satellites."

There are times much like these where protection from enemies include the latest weaponry such as: the Atomic bomb in the 1940's and the use of drones in the recently. To turn a blind eye to that which would most benefit those who the government must protect is more than negligent or irresponsible; it is reckless and can only lead to disaster.

So has the US declared war on Iran?

The GOP is not in power at present, so no we haven't.

If so, they should be finished off quickly.

That's what the GOP said about Iraq, and Iran is much more powerful than was Iraq at the time of our invasion.

will america ever get it right?? sheesh!!!

Its not rhetoric. I don't buy into your premise that Iran is a credible threat to the US. And I don't accept that it is morally correct to do to others what you would not have them do to you.

Yes. the guy with the big stick gets to make the rules. Good thing it's a democracy carrying that stick.

The GOP is not in power at present, so no we haven't.

And yet the link you posted said it was an act of war. Which is it?

That's what the GOP said about Iraq, and Iran is much more powerful than was Iraq at the time of our invasion.

Iraq is not part of this thread. It is another country, just like Brazil, Norway and Australia are other countries.

Thankfully you are not the decision maker here and not charged with the protection and security of the United States. The only reason you have the luxury to opine on what is a morally correct is there are those who actually make those hard decisions, get their hands dirty and in some cases give their lives to insure that people living in a democracy can have the freedom to opine on what is morally correct.

Yeah, thank god we were able to sacrifice tens of thousand of lives and a couple trillion dollars of taxpayer debt to get big oil back in Iraq again! That sure does make me feel safer!!!

Cat, we were discussing the OP~~~~~ Cyberwar....

I was replying to your last post.

Yes by attempting to side track the issue by bringing in conventional warfare to somehow validate your point. The title of the thread is as follows: "Massive cyber attack on Iran came from U.S., report says"

Yes, a lot of good people have died so you could feel safer.

No, in reply to your post about our past efforts in "protection and security of the United States."

Why did you bring it up if you didn't want to discuss it?

Do you understand that the topic is Iran? Seriously. Do you understand that much?

So its ok to say Iran does bad things, but not ok to say that we do worse?

Yes, a lot of good people have died so you could feel safer.

You put far too much value in cheap oil making you feel safe as far as I am concerned.

I am discussing it. You just do not have your usual soapbox of how terrible things are when we send in multitudes of troops etc.

This is the leading edge of warfare. What has occurred in this instance is delay a planned construction of a nuclear missiles through the introduction of a computer virus. This measure saved lives, gives all parties a chance to resolve their differences and possibly come up with a cohesive plan with out losing lives on the battlefield. What downside do you see here.

Not at all, I am saying I reject the policy of do as I say, not as I do.

The downside I see here is that when we do something to others that we would not wish to have done to ourselves, we have no moral justification to claim foul when others do the same to us. Especially when our motives are for world hegemony rather than defense from actual physical threats.

Well you can rehash the treatment Native Americans, the internment of the Japanese during WWII, and slavery as well, just as most Europeans do.

If the topic under discussion doesn't interest you, why bother showing up?

Not at all, I am saying I reject the policy of do as I say, not as I do.

Nevertheless, they do ...I have provided examples several times.

"Cry foul", is a diplomatic chip that is played to those who care. In the real world it is a race as to who can develop the latest, most sophisticated software that will cause the enemy a set back or best case scenario cause permanent harm to the development and use of weapons that would cause harm to the US.

Nevertheless, they do ...I have provided examples several times.

And I will continue to protest against it as long as I am able.

You have a different definition of morality than I do. I can only justify harm to others in defense of actual attack. I can't justify it for hegemony. Corporate profit by the 1% is just not that important to me.

OK duly noted...

Well, there are profits to be sure just as there are threats. For example, "with the May 23 negotiations in Iraq failing to persuade Iran to give up its illicit nuclear program, Iranian leaders have returned to threats of war — including the provocative statement that their missiles can reach every U.S. military base in the Middle East, and a call to halt all nuclear negotiations with the West."

Iran leaders hint at missile attacks against US bases | The Daily Caller

Preparedness is the key, not waiting till people die. The virus effectively staved off a possible attack or development of nuclear weapons.

Who cares about outrage, I want preparedness. The US has been under "attack" before, albeit, low tech in the form of espionage, sabotage, using aircraft as missiles flying into buildings etc. The virus was a very useful weapon against an entity that wants to blow us up.
the iranians want to blow the USA up? never heard about that. got any sources?
