New York lawmakers propose ban on anonymous online comments [W: 68]

Because it's more important than the state they come from

But far less important than what the legislation is. Bad legislation is bad legislation regardless of who wrote it.

WTF is wrong with people? Holy ****! That's so offensive . . . I swear - NYC sounds like they're going communistic or some ****. My god - the ****ing ideas they **** out of their assholes. . . all to 'protect kids from cyberbullying'

Geesh - maybe they should ban social-media . . . the net was around my entire life, pretty much, and only recently did such a thing become a problem.

If someone wants to know my personal info related to my online IP, etc - they could find it out WITH A WARRANT
Oh, c'mon, Spike, get off the fence. :2razz:

Most people realize that what a legislation says has a high correlation to the political ideology of the person(s) who wrote it, and that ideology often is correlated with political party

And only idiots determine their support or opposition based on party rather than actual content.

Straw man

No one has determined their position on the basis of the party. However, some fools have decided that the legislation must be democratic, or liberal, or even communistic simply because it came from a NYer. Those fools seem to be coming from the same end of the political spectrum as the fools who proposed the legislation - the rightwing end

The two major parties in the US are looking more and more like Tweedledee and Tweedledum.

New York is a hot competitor with California to see who can make the biggest Nanny State society. I assume that that's what the people want.

Cradle to grave security - that's the American way.

Anonymous

Cradle to grave nonsense.

This is a veiled attempt to keep the average citizen from expressing his ideas without fear of censure by the PC Nazis.

This is pure Fascism, and nothing else.

Devil's Advocate Mode:

requiring accountability for one's words, is Fascism? You have a strange understanding of Fascism.

Accountability?...

Who said anything about accountability? I'm talking about losing your job because your boss doesn't like the political views your express online. I'm talking about special interest hatchet goons combing the internet forums in order to pick off anyone whom they feel is a threat to their agenda.

This is not a strange understanding of Fascism. This is Fascism, cybernetic Fascism.

that's not the topic of the thread. this is about cyber-bullying.

Case in point

Some fools think that because NYS votes reliably Democratic in presidential election, that means that NYS is all liberal.

The history of electing republican governors and mayors, and having a state legislator that is split between the two is ignored by the ignorant. Facts will never trump the beliefs of bigots

Actually, the only time I"ve seen that is when a rightwinger on DP admitted to firing employees because of their political opinions

Yes, because both parties want to ban abortion, SSM, big govt, tax increases, and corporate donations to political campaigns

Neither party can ban abortion and SSM, both have passed tax increases, and neither really oppose corporate donations to political campaigns.
