Is Batman gay? Major DC Comics character to come out of the closet

That would be hilarious. Piss off both the right AND the left by having a gay character, and then making him evil.

It's a perfectly reasonable question, though -- why couldn't it be a villain? They're as iconic, and have as much of a following, as the heroes.

Not all bad people are straight.

The Joker hasn't really been seen since the very beginning of the reboot (they didn't specify if it was before the reboot or since the reboot) and you certainly don't get any more iconic than the joker. And his clothing is a bit flamboyant.

If they really want to stir things up and buck conventional sensibilities, it SHOULD be a villain.

Characters recommended for "gay" change:

Wonder Woman
Dick Grayson
Hank Pym

Hank Pym is Marvel.

This is the "gay agenda" at work.

Is the "Gay Agenda" some kind of homosexual version of the Justice League?

"Fear not citizens, the Gay Agenda has come to your rescue!"

Do people making the gay claims about characters actually read the comics, watch films and series other than the cheesy 1960's batman show?
Dick Grayson had relationships with Starfire,Barbara Gordon, Donna Troy, Catalina Flores, and Cheyenne Freemont. Wonder Woman's love interest is Steve Trevo.Hank Pym's love interest is Wasp.

A lesbian Wonder Woman would not work. Wasn't she involved with more than a few men since her inception?

She could be a later in life lesbian.

OK, so Superman was flying over the beach and saw Wonder Woman laying on the beach naked. He thought to himself "I could use my superspeed to go and **** her really quick, then fly away before she knew." So he did that.

Wonder Woman said "What the hell was that?"

and the Invisible Man said "I don't know but my ass is sore."

They oughta just make the Ambiguously Gay Duo from SNL a real comic book

That's it. They changed the name because they got tired of the way everyone laughed at their lisp when they said "Justice".

Apparently it's Alan Scott, the original GL.

That's a punt if I ever saw one. Why bother?

So much for it being a major figure in the DC universe. Besides, Alan Scott has been married several times and has a pile of kids. Doesn't strike me as the gay sort, but DC can reboot all that away, like they usually do.

First off comics aren't just for little boys, secondly there have been gay comic book characters, and main characters, not just side characters so please stop the faux outrage.

Sexual orientation either way shouldn't really be part of the books though...

Relationships add depth and interesting story lines to the comic books. Sexual orientation is a part of relationships. There really is very little way to separate them. Without some relationships, many comic book story lines would get pretty boring and the same old, same old. What would Superman be without Lois Lane? What would Spiderman be without Mary Jane? What would the X-Men be without the myriad of relationships that happen within them?

Really? Can we just leave little boys alone and let them play without having to ponder whether Batman is a pitcher or a catcher in the bedroom?

One would say the same thing about homosexuals in general. If this is your attitude, then perhaps we can stop having "guys" and "gay guys", politicizing someone's entire life as if who they're sexually attracted to is relevant in every single instance always.

Maybe Batman's gay, so what?

Just think about how the storyline of the X-men, for example, has been utterly dependent on the mutants' battle against society's views about them, fighting for their civil rights, battling systemic oppression by those who fear them, and finding a safe harbor against the general way they are ostracized by others over characteristics which they cannot control.

Now tell me that there's no reason to have a gay superhero.

It is relevant in that the writers are trying to create more than just a big fight every issue. The personal lives of the superhero characters has always been a large portion of any comic book, often with more time spent on that than the fighting.

Batman wasn't gay. Robin was and Batman was tolerant.

A single middle aged man, taking in a young gay man, and having him dress in tights

Nope Batman was not gay,

So no one is going to bring up that superman was an analogy by his Jewish creators of being the messiah?

A single middle aged dude surrounded by a dozen worshipping males wasn't gay enough for them?
