(Reuters) - Syrian army shelling and gunfire killed 34 people, including children, on Sunday in the town of Souran in the central province of Hama, the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
"The army shelled the town and then stormed it," the head of the group Rami Abdelrahman told Reuters, citing residents.
Hama has been a focal point of Syria's 14-month uprising against President Bashar al-Assad.
Activist video footage posted on the internet showed dead men wrapped in rugs with mourners crying around them. One showed bulldozers which activists say were used to dig mass graves.
Dozens of men stand around the vehicles, preparing the bodies for burial, a voice off camera says.

Is this violence ever going to end? Is Assad ever going to try to bargain with the protesters? The peace deal is clearly not working while the bastard Assad just continues with his oppressive and violent tactics. Something needs to be done, but not an invasion or bombing by NATO forces.

I do not advocate a NATO invasion. That being said no there is nothing other than intervention that will make this guy stop. His dad did it and got away with it, looks like he will also. His allies, Iran and Russia seem more determined to keep him in power than others to do get rid of him.

Yeah, but that's problem. What else would work? Assad has practically no incentive to halt the violence and initiate talks. He's not in any danger of being physically ousted. A serious threat of invasion by NATO would bring Assad to the bargaining table pretty quick. But, unfortunately, NATO, in particular America, doesn't have the stomach for it right now.

The violence will perpetuate until something turns the tide of power in favor of the opposition.

Is this violence ever going to end?

Not until they re-organized. Don't you see this is a propaganda war for the mission of "regime change"?

Brookings Announces Next Move in Syria: War
After admitting UN peace plan was a ploy, Brookings predictably scraps it and begins promoting expanded military conflict

By the US policy think-tank Brookings Institution's own admission, the Kofi Annan six-point peace plan in Syria was merely a ploy to buy time to reorganize NATO's ineffective terrorist proxies and provide them the pretext necessary for establishing NATO protected safe havens from which to carry out their terrorism. In fact, Brookings actually stated in a recent report, "Assessing Options for Regime Change" (emphasis added):
