Obama budget defeated 99-0 in Senate

President Obama's budget suffered a second embarrassing defeat Wednesday,
when senators voted 99-0 to reject it.

Coupled with the House's rejection in March, 414-0, that means Mr. Obama's
budget has failed to win a single vote in support this year.

Republicans forced the vote by offering the president's plan on the Senate floor.

Again this clown couldn't lead his own party to a single vote.
It must be Bush's fault again!!!

Re: Obama budget defeated 99-0 in Senate

Democrats disputed that it was actually the president's plan, arguing that the slim amendment didn't actually match Mr. Obama's budget document, which ran thousands of pages. But Republicans said they used all of the president's numbers in the proposal, so it faithfully represented his plan.
So it wasn't actually Obama's budget, presented by Obama, it was a modified version of his budget presented by Republicans.

    Misleading thread is misleading.

It's just a hoax... Obviously. A Republican introduced what he claimed was Obama's budget, but it was just the high level numbers, none of the actual policies. Same as happened in the house. You need to work on being more skeptical of things you hear.

    From the OP link:
"Republicans forced the vote by offering the president's plan on the Senate floor

Seems slim evidence of using "But Republicans said they used all of the president's numbers in the proposal, so it faithfully represented his plan

It was an amendment authored by the Republicans, supposedly using the numbers in Obama's budget. His actual budget wasn't voted on. A dummy vote more or less.

No, spud is dead right. It had the same "top line" numbers, but none of the policies or allocation or anything. Just because some Republican calls it "the president's budget" and it totals up to the same numbers doesn't make it so... It's just a hoax they're trying to pull on the simplest minded.

And not a single link proving that wasn't, "Obama's budget".

    Color me surprised.

    More telling is "
For a third straight year, Senate Democrats refused to offer a budget resolution of their own "—

The Senate became a political staging ground for meaningless budget votes on Wednesday, as five different budget plans spanning a range of fiscal ideologies failed, the latest chapter in Washington’s dysfunctional spending wars.

Great leadership I tell you, just great.

Try the link the thread was based upon. It states very clearly that it was an shallow and incomplete amendment offered by house Republicans supposedly based on Obama's actual budget.
