President Obama's budget suffered a second embarrassing defeat Wednesday,
when senators voted 99-0 to reject it.

Coupled with the House's rejection in March, 414-0, that means Mr. Obama's
budget has failed to win a single vote in support this year.

Republicans forced the vote by offering the president's plan on the Senate floor.

Obama budget defeated 99-0 in Senate - Washington Times

Again this clown couldn't lead his own party to a single vote. :doh:lamo
It must be Bush's fault again!!!

Democrats disputed that it was actually the president's plan, arguing that the slim amendment didn't actually match Mr. Obama's budget document, which ran thousands of pages. But Republicans said they used all of the president's numbers in the proposal, so it faithfully represented his plan.

So it wasn't actually Obama's budget, presented by Obama, it was a modified version of his budget presented by Republicans.

Misleading thread is misleading.

It's just a hoax... Obviously. A Republican introduced what he claimed was Obama's budget, but it was just the high level numbers, none of the actual policies. Same as happened in the house. You need to work on being more skeptical of things you hear.

From the OP link:
"Republicans forced the vote by offering the president's plan on the Senate floor

Seems slim evidence of using "But Republicans said they used all of the president's numbers in the proposal, so it faithfully represented his plan

It was an amendment authored by the Republicans, supposedly using the numbers in Obama's budget. His actual budget wasn't voted on. A dummy vote more or less.

No, spud is dead right. It had the same "top line" numbers, but none of the policies or allocation or anything. Just because some Republican calls it "the president's budget" and it totals up to the same numbers doesn't make it so... It's just a hoax they're trying to pull on the simplest minded.

And not a single link proving that wasn't, "Obama's budget".

Color me surprised.

More telling is "
For a third straight year, Senate Democrats refused to offer a budget resolution of their own "—

The Senate became a political staging ground for meaningless budget votes on Wednesday, as five different budget plans spanning a range of fiscal ideologies failed, the latest chapter in Washington’s dysfunctional spending wars.

Great leadership I tell you, just great.

Try the link the thread was based upon. It states very clearly that it was an shallow and incomplete amendment offered by house Republicans supposedly based on Obama's actual budget.

could be.
So when are the Dems in the Senate going to present a budget ?

That whole meme is kind of a hoax too. We have a budget, it is just that we create it each year through reconciliation instead of by passing a fresh budget. The end result is the same, its just a different method of getting there. Instead of starting from scratch they modify the previous year's budget. It's the only way to actually get a budget through over Republican obstruction. As for why they don't pass a fresh one, it would be pointless to try. The Republicans would obviously just block it. The Republicans are just making a big stink about it because they're sick of being locked out of the process of making it, not because there actually is no budget in place.

Did you miss this part?

If I presented you with a 50 page book and told you it was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, you'd be a little sceptical, even if I said all the main plot points were in there.

I totally understand the process. Yet for three years the Senate has failed. Continuing resolution is no way to function.

Why? The end result is the same. I agree it would seem cleaner to just pass a fresh budget, but the Republicans won't let that happen. I guess I wish they would, but frankly I don't care much because the end result is the same thing, it's just sort of procedurally slicker with a fresh one.

When the Republicans are refusing to vote for anything that isn't complete capitulation to their every desire, it's the only way to function. News flash, GOP: The minority party can't have everything it wants.

The Senate is only one part of the budget process. "The minority party can't have everything it wants". So does this apply to the House also? Dems are minority. Dems are majority in the Senate.

The bottom line. Both sides are playing politics. We are borrowing .40 of every dollar spent. Enough is enough.

If only they had voted on Obama's actual plan, it would have passed with flying colors.

No, of course it wouldn't have. The House would never have approved it and the Republicans would have filibustered it in the senate.

Yes, I covered that when I said "the minority party can't have everything it wants" instead of "the Republican party can't have everything it wants."

Yes, American, in an alternate universe it is possible that the thread title would have been closer to accurate. (but not actually accurate because 99-0 wouldn't have happened either) This is a good point you make.

So wtf are you bitching about, blaming Republicans for NOT PRESENTING THE PRECISE PLAN OF OUR GOD LORD OBAMA!!! You're bitching about bull****.

Is that a link? No? That's what I thought.

I think people are bitching about elected officials continuing to perform obvious political stunts in lieu of actual constructive policy making.

The quote was contained in the story that the OP was based on. You know, the one you liked but didn't read?

We should just do away with the congress so our dear leader can do what must be done.

the republicans have had thr ryan budget and variations of,the democrats have produced alternatives to ryans plan, and there were probaby some bi partisan plans made in the house as well.

the house has been doing its job,its been the senate thats been obstructionist.but whos to blame?the senate majority leader who blocks all bipartisan and non die hard wingnut liberal bills or the side that refuses to vote on die hard liberal bills?

there are checks and balances in congress, and i think its hard not to be to the opposite party when they dont even support half the crap they push out,or bring up how a bill must be passes so what know what it does, because something must be done, never once saying it must be done right:cool:
