Lesbian arrested for seeking marriage license in North Carolina

It's not okay as it is against the law. But as a form of protest people begin to get your point. Eventually they may even see your cause. They might even change their minds about you if they see your suffering. It's a protest.

I agree that it's protest even though it's illegal.

Careful, if pro-ssm brings in race, then I will be quick to bring in incest. Both are irrelevant to the topic, so to bring up one is to invite them all.

It is related. You said that in NC gays do not have the right to legally marry each other. I said that in the 1960s black people did not have the right to eat at the same restaurants as white people. Explain to me why race is irrelevant when the scenarios are almost exactly the same.

Fair enough. She was practicing civil disobedience and I think her motives were right. However, she is still under the law and subject to being arrested.

I misunderstood your position, sorry

That's cool, my whole point was that the point of civil disobedience is too get arrested for your cause.

This keeps happening to you today YS, arguing with people you essentially agree with.

You are a lesbian!!!

 Sometimes I can be an idiot.

Its ok, in the year 2000, nearly 40% of alabama voted for a ban for interracial marriage in the state constitution.

It wasn't two years before that when they actually couldn't get a majority vote to take it out of their constitution.

I told you why it wasn't a lie.
You tried making a fairly weak rationalization after being caught in a lie. Your thread title says this woman was arrested for seeking a marriage license.

That's not why she was arrested.

The very article you quoted says she was arrested for refusing to leave a government office. That's called trespassing. Notice how "marriage license" and "trespassing" are spelled differently. this is an indication that they are not the same word, possibly even containing different meanings and definitions.

Additionally, notice how you use this article to reduce this woman to a vagina by saying "a lesbian was arrested". This is about same-SEX marriage, so the article should have said "a WOMAN was arrested".

Hate your sex much?

Yes, that's what she was charged with but not her intent. Again, try using logic.

How long will you keep harping on your problematic reasoning when I pointed out its flaws?

lol wut?

If she was seeking a license to marry another woman, chances are she's a lesbian, so the label is accurate. Yeah, she was "arrested for trespassing," but we all know why she did what she did. I don't care about the "trespassing" part.

So then you would be opposed to sit-ins staged by civil rights activists, then.
When protesters are arrested for sit-ins, it is typically reported that they were arrested for trespassing during a protest. This is not what was reported in OP. OP lied.

As a heterosexual man, if I love another heterosexual man, I'm still not allowed to marry him.

So much for your theory.

As a heterosexual man you would never love another man....heterosexual or not. As such your point is not valid.

Yes, that's what she was charged with but not her intent.

Your thread title says it was arrested for seeking a SSM. It wasn't arrested for that. The article lied, and you lied when you perpetuated the article.

It's intent was to become a hero for it's cause, and now it is a hero among people who already agreed with it.

I already told you why this title can be interpreted as accurate.

Excuse me but I love my brother very much. As we're both consenting adults why shouldn't we be allowed to enter into this 'strictly legal' contract? He has a few medical problems my military benefits could help with, AND it would save me the trouble of drafting a PoA, will, etc when I deploy again.

In the name of protecting the sanctity of marriage in NC you cannot marry your brother. However, you can marry your first cousin ;)

It wasn't arested for seeking a marriage license, but trespassing.

So you are just going to repeat yourself in the absence of a better argument?

She's already married, so I would still be the poor hapless victim of discriminating anti-polygamy laws.

Unlike someone speaking out against religious based discrimination/violence...

Um... the focus on this was action regarding discrimination against same sex couples for marriage licenses at a facility that handled giving out said licenses.

What does that [your point] have to do with this?

Gee, your major issue is with the grammar? If "after" was substituted in place of "for", would you go on like this?

I hope you enjoy the same scrutiny with your postings.

Good thing you brought this important fact to all of our attention, otherwise we would have been so mislead.

She knows...
