Arpaio Faces a New Sheriff in Town

Its interesting that your implied remarks about Texans place you squarely into at least two of the three categories of names you call the sheriff.

Not to mention, clearly demonstrating that he probably knows almost nothing about Texas or Texas Culture.

Those in favour of Sheriff Joe really should do a bit more reading

YOUR tax dollars: How much does it cost to defend the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office?

According to Maricopa County Risk Management records, almost 6,300 claims and lawsuits have been filed against Sheriff Arpaio and his office since he began as sheriff in 1993.

The cost to defend those cases has been more than $50 million.

Part of that $50 million has gone to defend more than 5,000 cases which were closed with no payout to the plaintiff.

But of the total 6,300 case, there have been 1,828 lawsuits against the sheriff's office, according to a national lawsuit database.

To put that into perspective, the ABC15 Investigators also searched Harris County in Texas which includes Houston. Harris County is almost the same size in population to Maricopa County.

There are only 283 lawsuits listed under the Harris County Sheriff's Office for the same 17 year period. Maricopa County has about six times more.

It ain't just Hispanics that Sheriff Joe has problems with, he also don't like being questioned by judges
3 claims in cases could cost taxpayers $2 mil
A judge and two other Maricopa County officials who were the targets of investigations by Sheriff Joe Arpaio and former County Attorney Andrew Thomas are close to settling legal claims against the county that will cost taxpayers at least $2million.

Sheriff Joe also has problems with the type of people he employs(ed) in bringing the charges against the judge and county officials
Former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas won't appeal disbarment

Then there's the whole "Obama Loves Illegals" charge, so over-used by those who hate the President being refuted by reality.
Washington Post, July 2010
Deportation of illegal immigrants increases under Obama administration

LATimes, Oct 2011
Obama administration reports record number of deportations

So the present Administration is doing a better job than the previous one on deporting illegals but there is also another fact that should cause problems for the "Obama Loves Illegals" crowd - there are fewer illegals entering the country since the start of his Presidency

Boston Globe, Sept 2010
Fewer entering US illegally

FoxNews Latino, Oct 2011
Far Less People Entering US Illegally From Mexico

CBSNews, April 2012
Illegal Mexican immigrant numbers down as more migrate back to Mexico

How much money has he saved them by getting rid of illegals?

So you support illegal aliens in the US?

As far as your question. Ask those that vote for the canidate if they are qualified. Better yet, vote as I do and we won't need to debate. I know I am right.
Oh. My. God! This has got to be the most absolutely pathetic response... ever!

First, My response to you had absolutely ZERO to do with any form of immigration, legal or illegal. So, how you were able to delude yourself into thinking you were being clever by pulling that inference out of your ass is truly mind boggling.

Second, Your feeble attempt at sidestepping my actual question while desiring to appear to answer the question was just as lame. If anything, your mental gymnastics did more to prove my point. Obviously, the fact that people you don't like get re-elected continually doesn't sit well with your cherry-picked example.

Dude, seriously, here's some friendly advice... You've clearly demonstrated you have no credibility in this thread or regarding this topic. Sometimes it's better to not respond at all.

Who cares about the money? His job is to defend the law and punish the guilty. He can cost the taxpayers whatever it takes to do the job he's paid to do.

I don't, but that was in response to the other hacks post complaining about lawsuit costs.

I'm sure Sheriff Joke's office can feed you any number you like, contact Lisa Allen, she is the Goebbels for him.

But as far as "them", who would be Maricopa County tax payers, probably not much, since Joke's stormtroopers barely make a dent in the number. If anything it has cost the resorts and mansions in Paradise Valley/Scottsdale since the busboys and maid prices increased.

Isn't profiling how the FBI catches serial killers? And yes, racial is part of the profiling. I guess the left would feel better, and safer, if they stopped this practice as well.
Except.....we aren't talking about FBI trained agents, we are talking about racial profiling where you are under suspicion for being brown.

I think there is a big problem in AZ and the sheriff is doing what needs done. However, I also think this "all of a sudden" concern by the Obama administration is because it's time to vote soon again and the ONLY reason this was done.
Sheriff Joke has been under fed investigation for over 1244 days, this investigation picked up steam when the revelations of the Sheriff's office ignoring MANY crimes including sex crimes against children while doing his overproduced, expensive "raids" at county expense.

Ok bud. No, being elected is not a major factor on ability to do a job. Yet, would someone continue to be elected if the majority of people they serve did not approve of their performance? Satisfied?

So far the majority of people in Maricopa country approve of MCSO actions.

Sheriff Joke has been under fed investigation for over 1244 days,

I don't feel like doing the math, so I'll just ask: Is that longer than the period of time we have not had a federal budget?

So far, Maricopa County voters have favored Sheriff Joke less in each election cycle. He barely pulled 55% in '08.

And I wouldn't say the majority of Maricopa residents approve of every action the office takes, let alone knowing half of what has been going on. The Republic has hardly been a critic of Joke.

Well done, you managed to distract yourself in your first response to me while ignoring the post directed to you.....and why this aversion to numbers in your last 2....er...3 posts? If you don't care about numbers....why ask?

Awe, you missed the point of the sarcasm. Oh well. Nothing of value to see in this thread, so time to move on.

No, I got the derailment attempt, it's just kinda weird all this help with numbers that you request....and then you run away.

Merely pointing out a bit of political hackery.

And yet...he keeps getting re-elected to his Office.

Perhaps the Feds should listen to the People of Texas...and not their liberal political agenda.

You think the feds should let the residents of Texas elect a Sheriff in Arizona? Okay.

I think they should enforce the law, which is what they're doing.

Yet, he keeps getting elected. Seems he is doing something right.

Yes: Public relations, grandstanding, and fearmongering. It's a gift.

Let's let the court decide. If they decide in MCSO favor, will you accept the verdict and admit your opinion was wrong.. If the courts finds Arpaio guilty, I will accept the verdict.

He's already been found guilty of various human rights abuses in various contexts (and settled many others to the tune of tens of millions of dollars). I'm confident he'll be found guilty again.

Seems by the local tv news, one of the reasons its going to court is MCSO asked for specifics (evidence) to the alleged wrongdoings. DOJ, would not provide it. I would also say, see you in court.

That doesn't make any sense. What does make sense is what the article in the OP says about why this is going to trial:

"Following the issuance of the letter of findings, the department attempted to reach a resolution with MCSO and Sheriff Arpaio and provided them with a comprehensive draft settlement agreement. The proposed agreement contained a number of key reforms that had been successfully implemented elsewhere. However, negotiations were unsuccessful, primarily because MCSO and Sheriff Arpaio refused to agree to any independent oversight by a monitor."

Actually he's saved the "county" millions of dollars and it is you pro-slavery cheap foreign labor lovers who cost the "county" millions of dollars in court abuse.

1) Why is county in quotes? He's a county sheriff.

2) No he ****ing hasn't saved the county any money. There are a hundred articles like the one that follows, fyi:

Your tax dollars being spent to fight Sheriff Joe Arpaio

3) It's moronic to conflate being anti-civil rights abuses with being pro-slavery.

4) Arpaio's obsession with immigration has also directly contributed to his failure to pursue non-immigration related crimes, like, e.g., child molestation:

"The AP reports that, over a three-year period ending in 2007, Arpaio “inadequately investigated” or in some instances didn’t even work more than 400 sex-crimes reported to his office. The cases “include dozens of alleged child molestations.”

In El Mirage, Arizona, where Arpaio provided contract services, he failed to follow through on at least 32 reported child molestations — with some victims as young as 2. Many of the children were undocumented immigrants."

Because people keep saying "state".

2) No he ****ing hasn't saved the county any money. There are a hundred articles like the one that follows, fyi:

That's not his fault, it's the fault of the pro-slavery and anti-white racist lobby.

3) It's moronic to conflate being anti-civil rights abuses with being pro-slavery.

Pro-slavery = cheap foreign labor lovers (the right)
Anti-civil rights abuses = anti-white racists (the left)

They both work in tandem.

Don't change the subject. This isn't about child molestation. It's about halting the advance of the anti-white pro-slavery forces.

That's not his fault, it's the fault of the pro-slavery and anti-white racist lobby.

It is absolutely his fault that he's consistently implemented unconstitutional policies. This has nothing to do with being anti-white or pro-slavery, it has to do with respecting the constitution, which you apparently do not.

Pro-slavery = cheap foreign labor lovers (the right)
Anti-civil rights abuses = anti-white racists (the left)

They both work in tandem.

Apparently Matt Foley = delusional

Don't change the subject. This isn't about child molestation. It's about halting the advance of the anti-white pro-slavery forces.

Don't change the subject. This isn't about anti-white or pro-slavery (two insane strawmen if ever there were), it's about the constitution, and the impact of unconstitutional policies on Maricopa county and the citizens thereof. One of those impacts is Arpaio's failure to do his job in areas that don't concern illegal immigration.

In investigations involving Arpaio's penchant for going after his political enemies with massive abuses of power three people involved with Arpaio having been found guilty. The former county attorney, Andrew Thomas and former the deputy attorney, Lisa Aubuchon were disbarred last week. Former deputy county attorney Lisa Alexander had her law license suspended for 6 months and a day.

One of the victims of the Arpaio/Thomas gang was county commissioner Mary Rose Wilcox. Her public political execution at the hands of Arpaio, Thomas, et al. was beyond nasty. In the week past Wilcox was award over $1 million in damages and attorney fees for the actions Arpaio, Thomas and others.

The fines for wrongful deaths and other crimes have piled up under Arpaio and total into tens of millions. Then there's the continuous legal fees. Arpaio is not saving the citizens of Maricopa any money at all.

He's saving the county plenty, it's his opponents who cost the county money by abusing the courts because they lost an election.
