Ironically, "not really doing anything" may have already resolved the issue. In addition to dropping DADT, by refusing to defend the DoMA Obama has set up Supreme Court challenges to the definition and recognition of marriage. Because of his inaction it is likely that by this time next year the SCOTUS will strike down all obstacles to same sex marriage.

But everybody knows it's a meaningless attack word used by both sides.
Obama changed his views on something that doesn't effect policy or the law whatsoever. It is meaningless.

He might as well have given his views on a chunnel between Florida and Cuba. It's a circus, and those who buy into it are the clowns.

No, not at all. They're completely helpless and completely dependent on others. If it weren't for charity and government, there's no doubt that they'd all die. Completely helpless and living at the whim of others, they are.

ood for Obama, personally I thought he would support this sooner or later anyway but its nice he did it before the election and I agree it is a little ballsy.

Anyway equal gay rights will be a realty soon, id say 10 years max and thats how it should be. The majority of americans do not want to discriminate against their fellow americans and understand that this has no impact to any other marriage at all. Its about equality, freedoms, rights and ridding this country of one more discriminating practice.

Mitt Romney who is set on supporting a Federal Marriage Amendment that would define marriage as being between a man and a woman in the US Constitution and place discrimination into our Constitution? No thank you. Not into discriminating against people based on a failed belief that the word marriage belongs to the religious people.

    I second that!

while Equal Gay Rights wouldn't always be a make or break issue for me in this case it is. Any candidate that would campaign against it or want to make a national law against it / amendme3nt against it would NEVER get my vote because in my opinion with this one move they clearly don't understand America and what we are about. Can't support that type of discrimination.

So while the American economy declines and unemployment remains at record levels, you feel the issue in the upcoming presidential election is Gay marriage?

Perhaps BHO and his handlers are pretty smart after all.
