extremist parties will always do well in extreme situations.

From neo nazi/fascist parties blaming immigrants, jews, or muslims etc for the problems (in the west) or ethnic Chinese in places like the Philipenes or Indonesia.

People in extreme situations will quite often support more extreme solutions, which is one reason I do support a limited welfare state

So, you don't see a problem with Neo Nazi's gaining power, regardless of how small to start?

Greece has had years of crushing austerity measures imposed from outside, with yet more due to be inflicted. The voters abandoned the centre coalition parties who meekly accepted the "punishment", for the extremes on the left as well as the fascist/neo nazis.

Crushing is a bit of hyperbole don't you think?

The communist and the Neo Nazi's are back and gaining power in popularity, along with Islamists and the Caliphate is coming. It only took 70 years for Greece to forget that the Nazi's murdered 10% of the Greek people or 500,000. Half a million Greek people died at the hands of Nazi's.

Hey, that means 4.5 million Greeks may have cheered the other 500,000 were murdered, if my math is correct.

I'm just saying that not all Greek necessarily were with the victims, as in many other countries which abandoned totalitarist regimes or occupations.

In France, for example, up to 20% of the voters vote for the far-right National Front, although (or because) it has sympathies for the Vichy regime.

The Nazi's like to move in when you're weak and proclaim they will fix it...you will never be hungry again. They pray on weakness and Greece is weak.
