1. Nixon, a republican stopped the war......

2. after several of my friends got killed in Nam its safe to say I am a partisan hack............You should find your way to my Fleet Reserve Association lodge sometime and tell my shipmates who believe as I do who also lost friends in Nam names.....

Well they were the ones that started the war. At first FDR's anti imperialist policy in Vietnam was dropped under Eisenhower and we started to support the French in their imperalist policeis mainly because supposedly we needed their support against the USSR and Chinese, and also because French had a strong communist party and that scared the **** out of use. Then our OSS agents there who were originally on the side of the Vietnamese supporting Ho Chi Minh fighting against Vichy France and the Japanese dropped support for them which pissed Ho off. Then we started to send helicopters and **** back in the 1950's..
 
Wasn't it NPs people that originally trained the Afghans to resist an occupying force?

That includes Africa, South America, Asia, Middle East, etc. The simple fact is, we can't be in all of those places, so how do you prioritize and what are you willing to sacrifice both in lives and money to accomplish this and for how long?

As I said before, I'm not against helping others, but I believe in helping Americans first. It is especially disturbing that we have poor, homeless, unemployment, yet we send BILLIONS of dollars across the globe in aid to others.

Ok sense you fought in the military i have no right to call things how i see them? Its a damn shame that that happened but i just call things how i see them. Everything with a R next to his name is good no matter what and everything with a D next to his name is bad no matter what.

Kissinger SEC of State to Nixon negotiated the cease fire in Nam............

I think we are talking about two different times....The French left Nam in 1954 and we officially entered the war after the Tonkin Golf incident in1964.........You really need to do your homework

US started to get involved in Vietnam with the OSS in WW2 on the side of Ho Chi Minh. We then started to support the French militarily under Truman...

So the French ****ed up, had to surrender, and a year later we had to go clean up the mess they left.

If the well off and civilized nations of the world, the rich if you will, came together to stop the genocides and starvations around world you wouldn't need to prioritize. But thats not happening. Everyone is far too concerned with themselves.

I dont put a monetary value on life. When it boils down to life vs money I'll take life every time. As far as lives, I dont believe anyone should be forced to fight. But I also think a well funded global initiative to end starvation and stop some of these horrific regimes would muster plenty of volunteers.

Being poor in the US does not have the same meaning as being poor elsewhere. A poor person in America has means to eat and get warm in many cases. Billions of dollars is going overseas but much of it is going to governments and is not having the effect it could and should.

If LBJ and his cronnies we could have won that war in two weeks.........we had 500,000 men there...........
